At what age do you officially become 'too old' for pigtails?

Eh, I'd say middle school should be the cutoff, unless you're in sports.
You could use it instead of a ponytail if you're working out, but otherwise you just look immature.

I think they can be cute, as long as they suit your face shape.
I'm 23 and I can still pull them off.

If you're worried about looking young, go for them low down, with wavy/curly hair, tied very loose, maybe with a few flyaway strands; very boho, very fashionable.

Age shouldn't be of any concern. Pigtails can look mature in a sweet way if they suit you.

Best way to check, try it on yourself and if it looks alright, and you can get away with it then fine. If it looks stupid, don't do it.

I'm 19 and I wear low pigtails/ sometimes braided. A friend of mine is 23 and she has much shorter hair than I do, and she can get away with high ones.


I wouldn't expect pigtails on a 90 year old, however, I think if it worked right a middle aged woman could wear them and get away with it easily.

I'm 23 and my hair is very strait and fine, I work as a professional stage hand and when I'm loading is a show I find pigtails better then a pony tail for keeping my hair out of my face. I also occasionally where them when I go to school and the like and think for me at least they fit my artsy style well.

Uhm. It depends on what kind of pig tails.
If you're going to make them
on the "side" of your head like Baby Spice did,
I wouldn't go for it at 18. If you're doing in lower,
I'd say go for it, altough I would prefer a pony tail
if I were you, because that's more mature looking.

I would agree with most of what I've read here so far... I'm in my early 20's and my hair goes to my collar bone. Sometimes I'll braid two low pigtails, or if I'm wearing my hair curly, I'll do two low regular pigtails with a bow barrette by my bangs... then again, I'm kinda punkish, so anything goes smile

Most important is your confidence... if you feel like you look good, no one will second guess you... if you go out feeling insecure, everyone will pick up on it.

Pigtails are fine, just don't wear them HIGH.
High pigtails will make you look like you're six.
But low pigtails are super cute.

No, 18 isn't too old to wear pigtails.

30+ probably is, but by that time, you don't really give a ******** what you're "too old" for, so you just do what you like regardless of what other people say.

Edit: That goes for "high" pigtails too, especially if you are going for a more punk/Goth/alternative look, then it's fine.

I think anyone who says it isn't is being ridiculous.
