I have three tattoos on my wrist in the shape of stars.
One red, one blue, and one green.
They represent the members of Green Day, in addition to "past, present and future."
I've always liked stars and astronomy, so I guess it just fit.
I think star tattoos are stupid. They're so simple and over used. I'd prefer something more intricate and original.

Then again I think tattoos are awesome, and having a tattoo artist for a mom who's covered in very original art work and creates her own... I think it's fair to say she's influenced me over the years.

Yeah. When a person gets older, their tattoos tend to look pretty gross. Plus I hear a lot of people who opt for really cheap tattoos get urine & burnt checkers injected into their skin as the dye.. and that combination is why you see some people who have faded tattoos.
disagree. some old people look rad with tattoos. you're looking at the wrong people.

I don't think it's anything super special. Just that everyone likes stars/lover hearts/roses/skulls.
I feel bad for this girl though emo

My artist simply refuses to do stars on people claiming theyre unimaginative. I whole heatedly agree with him.

Okay, refusing to do a tattoo on someone is just plain controlling. What if a star actually means something special to a person? Or are you one of those posers who thinks that everyone has to go out of their way to be unique and make a statement?

No, half my tattoos were from the wall. I just think stars are tacky. Stop trying to start fights. The artist I go to is in the top 100 uk tattoo artists and has better things to do than draw stars on people, theres a cheaper studio down the road thats also pretty good) that he refers them to. I go to him for custom work.

Nobodys trying to start fights. Im just saying that just because you dont like a design doesnt mean it lacks meaning to others.

How about this? I think picking tattoos off the wall is tacky. So Im going to talk down on your for it.

Poser.

Yup, trying to start fights. Piss off, you disregarded everything I said and ignored the fact I have custom work by one of the uks top 100 artists. Enjoy having your shitty stars. Oh and you also contradicted yourself, hugely.

A lot of tattoos are unoriginal and unimaginative. At least stars are more simple and not the hideous cupcake / heart with wings / kanji / or consumerist tattoo of a ******** cartoon character. I'd prefer a tat with actual meaning to it, and if stars have meaning, fine. But a smurf on your ankle when you were drunk or a 'tribal' tramp stamp is just ugly and trashy.

Some star tattoos can be cute, I suppose.

But the dumbest ones I've seen have come from 2 previous co-workers. Both of them had a bunch of random crap on their arms that looked less like art and more like they got bored and decided to draw on their arms. The chick had flaming dice, cherries, a skull, and a few more that I can't quite remember. The dude had his ex-girlfriend's lips with "I Promise" under them, a grenade, a diamond, and some kind of pot-leaf looking thing that he swears is some kind of lotus flower. He recently ordered a tattoo kit off the internet and has been tattooing friends at his house. I asked (already knowing the answer) if he had access to an autoclave, and he said "what's that?" gonk Blood-borne diseases, anyone?

I'm not the biggest fan of tattoos. The ones that mean something are the only kind that I'm okay with. But I'm glad I never found anything I wanted because I'm sure that I would regret it by now... and it was only 3 years ago that I wanted to get a tattoo. People change a lot during the course of their life and opinions change.
That is my personal opinion on this whole thing. I'm not going to make fun of people for tattoos and I will admit that some do look cool. It's just not for me. And I'm thrilled that my boyfriend doesn't have any either.

I live in NY and I run into several women on a daily basis during my commute who have star tattoos on their hands, foot or neck. Is there any particular reason why that tattoo seems to be so popular? I know many pornstars have a star tattooed on their lower back.. so does it have some sort of sexual innuendo? Or due to it being such a small and basic shape, is it just like one of the most affordable tattoos?

Because people do what's popular. If all the cool kids tattooed dicks on their faces more than likely everyone else would to.

What made stars so popular though? Does Kim Kardashian and George Clooney have 'em or something?

I don't follow pop culture much, but it might have been an underground thing. A girl had the idea then when her friends saw it they wanted it, then their friends, and so on.

Yeah, I myself personally like Tattoo's, but I would never go for just stars. gonk
I plan on getting a few small ones here and there,
I would like both of my wrist done, one on my side, and maybe one on the foot.
Wrist and
Wrist1
((Both have sentimental value for me ))

On my side, I'd want a quote, not sure what though, have to find something sentimental. smile
And on my foot, Not sure as-well, but most definitely not stars.
lol
