so what's the deal with the runway anyways? apparently i was a runway model against my will? /:

and does anybody know if there is any good replacement for tektek? the avatar builder sucks and i haven't really been able to make "dream avatars" like before.

I think the runway is Gaia's answer to people's complaints about the outdated Avatar Arenas. Why fix what's broken when you can just make a new thing? (But, no, seriously, it's easier for them to create new features than fix a lot of the old ones. It seems that the only people who understand the features are the ones who created them... so when those people are gone... and the coding language is old/complicated... yeahhh...)

As to a new "Tektek," someone's taking on the challenge. It'll be a long time before anything comes to fruition though. > < [go-gaia site] [Go-Gaia thread on Gaia]
Personally, I use the dress up search to create new avatars. I like that interface more than the Avatar Builder.

also, do you have any tips for my current galaxy-themed avatar? i had to remove certain items like the mythrill halo, anklets, angelic microphone because they either made it look too top-heavy, bottom-heavy or just bulky. i also tried to simplify it a bit so it wasn't so cluttered.

Hmm I think your avatar is fine as is. ^ ___^ But... after staring at it for a minute, I'd like to see more of that cobalt/navy blue (shoe clips, cape, cheeks) at the top of the head. But that's just being picky. Oh! And I guess the raptor horns don't match. ^^;; I do like their shape though.

a couple of those still seem a bit too light blue for the head, and somebody gifted me the lunar headphones and they go nicely but i hate how they cover up the angelic blue of the moon on the elemental hair. this avi is really a redo of an earlier avatar i had, minus the gold, which i was relying on too much i think /:



p.s. the space mood bubble would complete my avatar and i've been lusting after it for a long time emotion_drool

it was my fault X) i keep past avatars on the front page of my quest thread and i moved them around a bit. here they are side by side. i removed the gold because i tend to automatically clutter avatars and i actually added more gold onto it when i got the golden laurels and winged anklets. also, it was mainly just me wanting my avatar to look like a galaxy or part of the universe so items like the oculus magica's star eyes, the inari's beads floating beads pose helped make it complete. for the newer one the only thing that bothered me was the purple planet from the celestial wrap's pose that doesn't quite match. again, the space mood bubble is something i plan to nab in the near future to help with that avatar. one of my favorites now by far.

well, i'm not strictly adhering to the old style... it's just that 90% of my items are older and i just haven't bought a lot of newer items. back in the day, you helped me amass so many different combinations of items that i can almost literally make infinite avatars.
i've got a few arm/leg mod items that are cool but i just haven't gotten the chance to use them yet.

as for new color schemes like toxic or that popular electric blue color everyone likes, i just haven't been able to work with it at all xd
sometimes i can make use of the electric blue from the inari's beads poses but as for lavender, toxic green, etc. i just don't have enough items to match it.

O: That's weird. Gaia does have mini events from time to time. I could have missed that one, but I don't remember seeing any posts talking about it.

XDD I'm in the same boat. Sort of. Okay, I was in the same boat but then I slowly started to amass arm and leg mods. So I just wear the mods with my old items. XD Try to make my old items look "new."

Ahhh~ yeah, it's just as you said. You'll be able to work with them once you amass some items in those colors. You'll find that the electric blue items you speak of are usually tagged as "checkmate." There are a few cheap items, but this one's one of my favorites: The shirt is on the undershirt layer. The shoes sorta act like a leg mod. And it has enough different poses on different layers that you can usually equip it somewhere. xD

As to toxic... I collected several "old items" in that color... before it became one of the big colors. So, whenever I wear that color scheme... I still look "old style." XD; I'd pass on the names of those items, but they're all very girly or feminine. > < One item that isn't girly is .
Oh! For that much, there's a checkmate blue recolor of this item that's really cheap. I really love the shoes. The shoes are the kind that can layer over other shoes. c:

i feel like my avatars always have small inconsistencies, like in my current avatar where the green sort of shows through on my john cena cap. also, i've tried to pair certain items that seem to be bronze-colored, but are just slightly different shades of bronze. same with silver. i believe the brass raving goggles, bullet belts and the time piece shoes are a combination that you slid in my direction, and i rely on it a lot now whenever using those colors. X)

I know, right? But we got what we asked for. We wanted them to release items that matched. And not make an awesome item in an odd color and never make any other items in that palette. @ .@;;; I miss that era too. XD But mostly because I think that's when I was able to afford most of what got released. <.<;;; Now, there are too many items to keep up with and I have to be picky. ; ~;

Yeah I think you've hit it right on the nose. I think what marks "old style" is the color inconsistency. That and no body mods. xD Just as Emetology said above, I've been feeling nostalgic lately. I've, personally, been preferring outfits that are slightly off on the colors.
And, yessss, that is an awesome combo to always fall back on. <3 And, yeah, the inconsistencies are working in your favor. I didn't even realize you had that cap on. xD

Ooo~ yay! I'm glad that it helped. Welcome back to Gaia!

I'm not sure if you've found it yet, but Gaia's replacement is the Avatar Builder. It's not as easy to search for items as Tektek was, but it works.
You can build avatars using your own avatar in dress up using the "All Gaia" search option. The downside is that you can't easily change gender. And you can't always equip more than one of the same item. ...but I still find it easier to work with than the Avatar Builder.
And there is someone who'd like to build an offsite dream avatar maker with the help of volunteers. It's improbable that it'll happen. But the idea is there.
