SUSHI ERROR!

xd

Despite that it was MUCH better way back.
There was less stuff and no announcements every hour selling you items for actual money.

I remember one of the original halloween events gave out brown paper bags to stick over your head for free when you bought something in the shop. Can you imagine if the even prizes now were a brown paper bag?

The exchange was an actual exchange. People would, more often than not, swap items rather than just selling for pure. I miss that a lot.

And things usually worked. It's sad coming here now and seeing all the features that don't work anymore. I do wish Gaia would tidy up and delete all the obsolete stuff.

Once upon a time we used to be excited to see we had announcements lol

Ha, yes. I don't even remember the last time I bothered to read an announcement.
The community was great. Everyone was super supportive of each other.

been here since 2009 or so

avatar making feels a bit more fun now, with all of the newer items. at one point a few years back I actually said the opposite because it was hard to keep track of all of the new items, constantly coming out, and I felt a little overwhelmed. but when you get acquainted with them after a while, you learn that the abundance of newer items is actually useful when it comes to enjoying avatar creation
but the forums are really slow now as compared to ten or so years ago, especially GCD sad

back then the forums moved incredibly fast because there was so many people on that threads would be constantly pushed off the first page within an hour or less. gcd was one of the more popular forums and it's a little surreal to see stuff from a week ago still hanging out on the first page of the forum.

also i remember in the early days, there were so many people that the forums would crash especially during events. i remember people getting frustrated during the zombie hunting on the forums for the halloween event because one person could shoot a zombie per post and the amount of lag meant that it didn't go through a lot of the time.

there was also a world map which was ultimately discarded for the current shops directory, but you used to be able to travel to the different towns to go shopping. and sometimes they'd put little pixel sprites on the map to show something going on, but that was pretty uncommon.

The world map is still there though under the "world" tab, but it is not used anymore i think.

Indulgent Waffles

No longer wondering which food-related server isn't broken is a thing I'm thankful for, lol.

The forums were so lively back then, it was a challenge to keep your thread on the first page. I haven't seen a discussion followed by the word 'spoons' in awhile.

The old homepage was very different, it had pinks and blues. There were no daily item releases, and people were always excited for the 15th of the month, because it meant we could open our sealed letters and check out this month's items.

Prior to the 15th of the month people would speculate on what it could be (especially when the teaser art was dropped)

Also, I miss decorating my Gaia Home...and puzzles. We used to have those. And fishing! Oh and seeing aquariums in people's signatures. I used to like seeing them light up so I could play a quick game. I know Booty Grab's still around but things were different back then.

It was kinda like this newgrounds flashes from way back when. In fact it was almost exactly like this.

When I first started, gold was extremely hard to get. Many people used whatever shop items they could afford and you really had to improvise. Forums were a lot more active and many more rped. Monthly Collectables actually had value.
I used to be on Gaia a lot in 2004-2008, and it was so different. It was a lot busier in the forums.

Ahhh I remember I joined in like 2013 I think, got hacked and then made this account in 2014 or something lmao. I remember thinking items that were like a million gold seeming impossible to get and also remember art shops and adoptables being so active in the few years after. My Toyhou.se is filled with adoptables I bought with Gaia gold and art I commissioned through the forums with gold

Timid Master

It was really fun! People could go to Towns and easily make friends/have group hang outs. We also used comments to have conversations 4laugh and people would give actual gifts (not trolling), too. Especially for birthdays 3nodding

Dangerous Hunter

I don't know anything about how it is now to compare, but it feels foreign. It's different from now.

First time logging on in forever.

Anxious Goat

I remember Go Gaia. And being excited about Pink Links. And questing for gold shop items lol
