- On one hand, I can see the logic behind this:
Not everyone has the time to grind gold, so it's much easier to just buy something with GC
This change is probably very attractive towards casual users who have a few bucks to spend, plus it pushes GC sales.
On the other hand, this creates a lot of changes to the already-established user-run market.
My biggest complaint about the whole thing is that even if I have the cash, if there's no supply of the item, this doesn't do me any good.
Half of my wishlist is comprised of items with 0 listings.
I would love a system where we can buy items directly from Gaia when there's no listings.
Make it a GC-only system? Fine. I'm happy if it means being able to attain near-extinct items.
I agree with almost all of this, except the last part.
What do you mean by a GC-only system? Do you mean that everything on Gaia would convert to GCash currency, with no plat/gold? eek
That would be terrifying! And horrible!3
It would mean Gaia would lose all pretense of a free-to-play site and go completely money-based. No grinding, no casual users, etc.
Maybe you mean just a set of items that can ONLY be purchased with GCash, and nothing else? Even then, that poses some serious issues.
As a Gaian that spends GCash, I still like having the option of choosing to buy something with IRL money or digital currency. If an item is out of my GCash price range, I can guest for it using gold.
If we went to a GC-only system, we would completely lose that option. All nice items would be behind the gatekeeper of IRL money. The site would become a microcosm of greedy spending and many of the users would be driven away.
IDK, what were you picturing when you said "GC-only system"?
