i like the style of both new & old gaia, looking back this makes me really want to use these older items again and i also appreciate them a lot more now than i did at the time they were released

I really have no idea how to share old avis. But my go-to was: Morgana's Dress, Victorian Boots, Gills, and the slim Sunglasses. It was a very basic vampire look, but I liked it. And then came Luci. And Bas. Still have them!

Then I got banned for something stupid, my old account is still wearing this avatar.
I made this new account, regathered my items, and ended up looking like this...

Now days, I generally look like this...

While we are on the subject, can anybody share their avatars from October 2007 to July 2008 with me? I'm building a continuous multi media online RPG campaign that spans across multiple guilds on here and need players. But first, I need to know what they looked like, in that time period to create their characters.

Had to go and remake this one since the account it was on was hacked long ago.
I was not a smart kid back then and got hacked in the dumbest way possible emotion_facepalm
Never thought I would see this one again! I was an edgy kid back then and still am to this day lol

Oh man. I have some super-old ones!! Looking at them, I can see that my ultimate sense of style is mostly the same, just more sophisticated and with a lot more options to explore. That's the main thing that keeps me coming back to gaia - the diversity of looks one can create.

I only found one from 2008 I submitted to the avatar arena. I remember I used this as a base very often back then. I sometimes added the Fire Whip and it was perfect for me  sweatdrop

Ohh man, looking at these shared avis is making me nostalgic. I joined in 2008 and was a big ol noob for quite some time. I don't have any of my avis saved, but I do remember one outfit consisted of the complete Prism Armor set and bunny ears. I was so proud when I got it all together! As a bonus, I remember some of my old usernames before we could use spaces: tastes_like_a_frog, xXBlack_Rose_In_BloodXx, cutiepie654321. I doubt anyone remembers me, and it's for the best, but if by some unhappy circumstance you do then I apologize.
Thanks everyone who has shared theirs, especially with visuals! I don't necessarily miss the clunky style of avi where we couldn't edit our legs or arms, much less our hair or faces, but it's humbling to remember where we came from. gaia_gaiagold

Thanks for sharing! It's okay to not be an "OG" player tbh, it's mostly nostalgia that makes the website seem so good. When you started was when avi items were getting super customizable, so seeing the bridge between clunky and smooth like we have now is super interesting. emotion_kirakira

I have a tumblr that I keep all my old avatars on. I know I'm missing really old ones, but let's take a look.


Based on Arena entry history this was a 2007 avatar! I was at this point just getting into matchy.


There was a long period of time where I used the nosey tattoo and had skintone c.


But I have been cluttery/matchy for a long time. This one got 9th in the arena in 2009 emotion_kirakira


I was also obsessed with these eyes for awhile

The start of grombie, except I had to work around the eyes of the old grombie skins!


In between old grombie and new grombie I used white skin

What a marvelous step through time with these avatars, Riyokuma.

Unfortunately I saved many of my early avatars with Photobucket -- but I was able to "rescue" this graphic I created in 2006. At this time I was Gaia poor and created avatars with the Shop items I could piece together. I was still saving up for my Fairy Wings, but have on my Fairy Cloth in this digital montage.

Starting in 2007 I created a Zurg avatar named 5DMxyzptlk, and joined the Zurg Hive, often wearing the following Mecha Form suit, but without the visor. Since I am recreating this look with this BatChic avatar, I decided to equip this Mecha Form with the Neko Helm full visor. Rather clunky, but retro-cute.

I have two old avvys still saved!
This first one I was really proud of when I made it during (or right after, I can't remember) the first really big Sentinel vs. Overseer event in... 2009 I think. I was on Sentinel's side and I think the Overseer side got a potato skin when they lost?



Then I have the avatar I was using for the longest time! The one I had on when I came back from my years-long break.



I used to have a couple more, a kitsune and a fox sister, but I deleted those outfits a long time ago and only kinda remember how they looked now!
