a fun little Gaia history lesson for you, courtesy of someone who was on this site all day every day in her teen years.

be honest: how many of y'all either got online today or saw someone get online today because of this video. ...no, really, I'm curious if I affected traffic at all.

Honestly... I came back online after a 5 year hiatus because I saw the video and was like "Oh yeah! Gaia is a thing!"&

Personally I prefer the desktop version but I do agree that having the app functioning properly and working well can also help bring people in.

Angelic Healer

Literally logged back in after seeing your video on my recommended list. Wow, at the time of logging in there is only 2,327 users online eek I guess that explains why most forums are dead for hours or even days!

It's pretty nostalgic being back, even though my account isn't that old, 2007. Wait, that is 12 years ago eek I honestly haven't logged in as much these past few years. Occasionally I see what is going on and catch up on the manga or post occasionally here or there.

Logged in specifically because of your Vid. Thanks for jogging my memory of this place!

Destitute Millionaire

As the maker of the Reddit post on hyperinflation, the list of every single gold generator ever released, and other stuff that could have gotten me banned back then if I ever dare mention them here, I'm glad to see my work getting the attention it deserves. I never thought anyone who discussed this issue would get as much attention as you have with your video.

My husband and I both logged for the first time today in what must be years! I saw the video and was so excited to hear about plats as the new currency. I miss the site and think about from time to time but the inflation really kept me away. Gotta remember to poke my head in more often.

Edit: Little after thought. I really wish there was a great app version of the site. Minime, later changed to pokimini became my hangout of choice because it combined dress up and chatting. After it closed its doors a lot of us got displaced to the Japanese version Pokecolo but our English community shrinks all the time because of the language barrier. Gaia could fill that niche IMO. There's still a lot of people looking for dress up apps that offer a great forum and chatting option!

i am the husband, i agree.
There will always be a market for this and everyone will always be looking for a better mousetrap, if i may expand upon my darlings list:
Minime
pokolo
ACPC
Line Play
Dream Girlfriend
Love Nikki
and probably more i've just forgotten about.

A dope app would be dope.
then of course we can get to the real business...

This video showed up on my recommended feed in YT and I was honestly terrified to watch it, fearing it was from the perspective of someone who knew of gaia and really didn't associate with it.
I was even tempted to post a thread here sharing the video myself, but knowing good and well the rise in "is gaia dying/gaia is going to be dead soon" topics that ebb and flow throughout the year, I decided against it not wanting to be The One who drudged this topic out yet again.

My curiosity finally caved in, and I watched the video over my lunch break and honestly am super glad I did. There was a lot of information that I either didn't know or knew of only vaguely due to the type of gaian I was.

I joined back in 07-08 ( the memory is a fog ) but lost interest, only to rejoin in 2009 and remain active up until 2013 ( around the beginning of the inflation and announcement influx ). I returned around 15 and have been moderately active since.
It started out as just a combination of nostalgia and curiosity, but quickly I found things to keep myself busy. I began the tedious process of sorting through my inventory, vending, and I even opened up an art shop. ( Slow traffic, but I like it that way. )

I kind of became numb and adjusted to the numbers and prices rising. It just became the norm, and while being frustrated, I ultimately accepted things as they are with one rule: if I no longer got any satisfaction out of it, I'd stop coming.

So here I am still. Casually making avis and keeping up in the CSU threads. I usually miss out on the ATS due to conflicting schedules, but I religiously browse them the following day like reading the morning news paper.

A large part of me staying here is that there just isn't anything out there like gaia. I tried tumblr for a while and eventually that didn't quite satiate my social media needs. I guess I'm just too busy and too stubborn to want to learn a new interface, but I like gaia. I love my gaia and I honestly wish there was something I could do to help. When I have a few bucks to spare, I get gaia cash or snag a flair, but honestly I'm too afraid to invest in a business who's status I have no way of knowing where it will be in a year from now.
I am glad I was able to at the very least get a small feel of projects customs, and wish I could afford to dabble it in more, but I can't justify the cost and I'll need more concrete evidence the site is somewhat thriving to even consider .

With that being said, the kid in me still has an inkling of a dream to be an artist for gaia, so if stability is reached, I literally have a backlog of ideas and concept art for cool items and lore around them. blaugh

I came back to gaia in 2O14 and been here since then,
so I was already here waaaay before this video dropped;
but the video was very insightful and nostalgic.

Back then, I never really tuned into what was going on behind the scenes of
the site tbh ;; so a lot of the information I didn't even know.
When I logged on back then, I honestly didn't care to much about the site if
that make any sense ? I only logged on to make friends and that's it, lol.
I didn't know anything about the site or cared to know.

There were some things I kinda knew but didn't know the full story of.
No one ever broke it down to me like the video did, so that was very nice to watch.

It's also nice that the video is also bringing back old members that used to
be on as well ! I wish there was a way to revive the traffic on gaia again !
I miss the days when there were so many users online and there were so many fun
things to do on here as well.

Not sure how, but your video some how showed up in my YouTube recommended. So yeah decided to check out the website today. Tried to login after resetting my password, only to to get a message that my account is on hold and that I need to use the 'Report Form' which when I click takes me to a login page which guess what? I can't login to because my account is on hold, nice thinking there staff!

So here I am on a secondary account I made by adding a period to my e-mail.
