I have two ways to say what I instantly thought

the prommie way: well obviously you were too far from the sun that is a prommie

the real way: tbh its better that you didn't know the word prommie existed cause they can be ego ******** assholes or nice cute people

fxxkin demon

i 'member the term but i dont recall prommies bein a big thing in the gcd. they were always regs. which i guess makes sense cos like ya'd see the same ol' regular folks in different threads in the gcd.

now? i think pretty my everyone who posts on the regular is a reg. i mean aint too many of us left here. i reckon a lot of us will be here when they finally turn the lights off ya know?

Big Bilge rat

i cared way too much about being a regular
back in the early days of gaia sweatdrop

i eventually did become a regular of one of the (lesser known) forums
and me & my friends felt way cooler than we actually were lol
it didn't last long tho because gaia created the guild system &
all my friends moved there & once we left a new group of regs moved in

i'm glad it really isn't a thing here any more & we're all just a bunch of losers. heart

GCD didn't exist until 2005. /oldmod

I have a good portion of the old "prommies" on my friend list and was invited to most of the GCD centered guilds since I used to be more active here. It's a forum culture that doesn't exist anymore, basically.

I have no idea what "prommie" means and I was very much here in 2004, haha.

It was only a thing in the GD really

It was in the GCD too
There was a guild called GCD Regulars and Prommies

It may have started in the GD but it spread

Oh, as this bit of history has been questioned, I remembered something that always shows the history of a forum. As forum and rule structures generally and stubbornly remain unchanged for whatever reason on this dying site, there's always evidence here and there of rules that were put in place to discourage certain types of behavior that persisted in the past. And this forum is no exception.

  • This is definitely because people very much wanted to discuss prommies despite it not fitting within the content intended for this forum lol. Arguably the bits about "namedropping" and "anecdotes and personal experiences" may have also been prompted by this phenomenon, but I wouldn't say they're unique to this forum like the above is. And curiously the latter seems to not be enforced, since I can think of a few anecdote threads I've seen recently that do not belong here as detailed by the rules.

So you want this thread moved?

No, this isn't an anecdote thread. What I was saying is that I've seen threads clearly against that rule be given a pass in recent times.

    Oh yes totally.

I think the whole prommie thing is really based on "Mod" preference and permissions.

I remember the terms, and I was kinda a Cb'er back then. (I so desperately wanted to be a reg.) lol
Back in early Gaia, they were used so often. It seems like those terms are not really used anymore. I'm sure a lot of OG Gaians can relate to the elation of finally achieving those titles. Though, I have to say sometimes it was seen as a bad thing depending on what forum you were from.
