I used to code myself a new v1 profile every few months pre-2010, but when I came back from a years-long hiatus, I didn't have the energy to spend hours on a profile most people were unlikely to visit. So, I threw something together quick on v2 with the intent to spruce it up more nicely later, and then never got around to it. sweatdrop

I should make a habit of checking more profiles. One of the worst things about modern social media is the obsession with homogeneity, so I really should enjoy the custom profiles people still do make.

Lonely Noob

I had ordered a profile coding, graphics, avi art and animation from a profile shop. I had to use plat and cash shop items to pay for it.

I just recently got the new profile. I really love it.

I think I use current profile(v2).

it is public profile since I joined gaia. I don't think I ever made my profile private.

I don't know how to code at all.

I like looking at profiles.
it makes me sad whenever I find a private profile.

I made my paws profile myself. I feel like it's still very much basic tho.
I used to be a LOT into coding and creating graphics, but that's like, 20 years back.
I contemplated giving coding another try on my tumblr blog but I'm too lazy to re-learn that stuff.
Plus it can be extremely tedious when certain codes don't work the way I want them to classified_fu

The profile layout I have here, I ordered it last year and I'm still loving it.
It has since moved through three accounts. The first change was for a new start, and now I got my very first Gaia account back recently. So, I went and moved all over here now lol.
But I gotta say, my profile is a barren wasteland since I changed. Idk, I'm not extremely social and have a tendency to make horrible impressions in the CB, so I struggle extremely to find any new friends to talk back and forth through profile comments ,w,

Personally, I care much about my profile. I also care about my inventory being sorted and all.
I spend much time dressing my avi, but I'd love to actually do a little chatting outside of dressing up pixels.

One of my favorite profiles this dude made a text based Gaia game in his multimedia section. I don't think it's playable anymore but it was so much fun. Also had a leader board with a time so you could see who had the fastest speed run.

I've never managed to do anything particularly crazy with my profiles, but I love customizing them regardless. My profile for this account is based somewhat on my website's current theme, but my profiles for my mules are based on the characters. I use v2 and always have, really don't have any experience with v1 and wouldn't know where to start with it.

The main thing I'm salty about at the moment is I used to have a section that had all the threads and guilds I linked to in it, and when I changed my username recently it wiped the profile back to default for some reason. Now I gotta find 'em all again, which is kinda annoying.

Profile surfing has been fun (past)ime and current hobby of mine.

I don't mind so much when someone's profile is private, but it's odd when someone wants to friend me and every communication source is private. I don't like random friend requests lol.

More so than private profiles is when I can't find someone even if I copy + paste their username into the Search bar.

I love favoriting avis, and every blue moon someone's avi isn't in the system even if they appear clear as day on another section of the site.

I thought it may be an old account thing, but it's not exact.

tl,dr: I don't mind private profiles, just when someone reaches out and I can't reply. Hidden avis grind my gumps.

      v2 >>>>>>>>>>> v1

The amount of default CSS you have to override whenever you want to code on a v1 layout is... bleh.
(Honestly, massive respect to all the old designers who used to only code on v1)

v2 does have its quirks and bugs, but it's a lot more friendly to beginners, which is how I learned as well : ' )

I keep mine public. There's no private information on there and I think of it like a "here's a little about me" type deal. I'm not a coding type person but I found someone who was and they made me a really cool profile. Haven't changed it since. I like seeing profiles. It gives me more sense about the person I'm talking to/looking at.

Tipsy Gaian

when i was in high school i used to go all out and make my own custom profiles but now im too lazy. i use the V2 theme and just use a simple color scheme. kinda reminiscent of those tiny layouts that trended on myspace back then lol

I think I'm just using a profile that Gaia had as a basic option years ago. I haven't changed it in over a decade but it suits my needs. I had a computer that was slow and didn't handle flashy profiles well at all. I can remember it freezing on MySpace all the time because they didn't seem to limit how much garbage you could add to your profile there so people added absolutely everything they could think of, AND the kitchen sink, to their profiles.

After all that, all I wanted on Gaia was a nice, soothing, static background to look at. There's not much to my profile, but there's never been much to it anyway. The last time I edited it was when I changed photo storage and deleted my Photobucket account. I'm pretty sure the background is hosted on Gaia.... I know I'm not hosting it.
