Welcome to Gaia! ::

Toxic Otaku

Its never going to be worth it because you're buying pixels you dont really "own". Everything still belongs and is dependant on Gaia. If you still want to buy it thought, its really just up to you.

                  My advice,

                  grind on Lake Kindred

some areas have RIGs that can get you dem sweet items, or items that are worth enough to vend to get you to your goals!

Gaiacash can be worth it, but it's still money for pixels ya'know?

I forgot which level it was at, but I'm starting out in LK and I got a RIG out of leveling my Volcarus, that ended up giving me a 31b item. I still have a long way to go before I can grind Sycamorte though. I'm considering buying ally plus and skill potions.

It's worth it if you want something right now this minute omgomg!
If you have a bit of patience though, almost everything deflates eventually these days because there are so many items being released daily.
I haven't spent cash here in years, I don't find it necessary. Can't afford it, and even if I could I probably wouldn't bother. There are bazillions of cheap items in the MP, check out this thread (towards the end, a lot of the early pages probably aren't relevant any more).

Lake Kindred is worth a go too, you can win RIGs in some parts of it.

It really depends on how much disposable income you have, imo. Like, if you normally play games online that have a "pay-to-win" option (Castleville, Farmville, certain MMOs, etc), then this is nothing new; the price tag's just a little steeper.

Also, don't buy if you're looking for an investment. With the way gaia re-releases things nowadays, you're better off just waiting until whatever item you're coveting is re-released and splurge then.

I'd say, GCash is a bad idea. Some of the items on my wishlist have been there for a few months, but they dropped dramatically in price due to the fact they kept getting re-released. A little bit of patience will save you some money.

First of all, welcome back to Gaia! I understand that the changes to the site can be overwhelming so I recommend you visit the Hiatus Recovery Centre to gain a better understanding of what's been going on on this site since you've been away.

I think buying Gaia Cash can be worth it, depending on how much you want items. If you want something instantly you can spend Gaia Cash to buy it from the Cash Shop or the Marketplace. You could even buy something from the Cash Shop to then sell on for Gold so you can obtain your dream item quickly.
On other other hand, if you're willing to wait and go through the effort of collecting Gold by other means, maybe you can avoid buying Gaia Cash. Some people earn there Gold by buying items for cheap and up-selling them. Others might play Lake Kindred, a fairly new monster-battling game, to earn Gold. You can earn Gold in the game by defeating wild monsters in the game, known as Kin. If you're interested there's a forum dedicated to Lake Kindred where you can get help and information from other players. You can find it here.

I've personally earned most of my Gold by buying items from the Cash Shop (mainly Limited Quantity Items and Chance Items) and selling those on in the Marketplace. I try to buy Gaia Cash when there's a good sale on so I get the most for the money I spend. Of course, it's not necessary to buy Gaia Cash to get new items but it certainly is faster.

I think cash can be worth it because you can make a fair bit of gold selling one $5-$10 item in the marketplace and, depending on how frugal you are, that profit could have you set for a while. I spend a few dollars here and there because I enjoy the site enough to feel like my small investments aren't a waste of my money. The coupons they've been offering recently can also add value to a cash purchase, as well as the tiered rewards that are usually being offered.

I think it all depends on your priorities and what you feel the value of a dollar is.

There are some of us who spend cash not simply for shiny pixels, but because we want to support the site so it will continue to thrive. Some of us just have the extra income to spend for entertainment, like you would if you went to a movie or to an arcade. And still others do it just because. And some people don't spend at all and are perfectly happy and always dressed to the nines! Everyone's situations and circumstances are different.

Ultimately, there are a lot of awesome suggestions in this thread-- you don't need to buy Gcash to be happy! Gaia has so many, many items and things are far more accessible than they used to be, even if the value of gold has ultimately gone down. So the real answer is, if it's worth it to you, you have that choice. But there are always other options available to you. It's tough coming back, I know, but people are always willing to help if you're really stuck or not sure how to improve your experience here. Good luck!

Personally? I don't think so. They're pixels. To me that might be worth spending money if Gaia was actually an ethical company worth investing in. While they've improved they're still clearly giving their userbase the middle finger. So no, I don't think it's worth it.

However, if YOU think it's worth it, go for it. Not my thing but also not my place to judge or make decisions for you. (Unless you're spending hundreds + on gaia, then I will judge hardcore.)

Fluffy Trickster

it depends.
1. if you want to buy GC for one single item, then you have to know gaia can re-release them and they might lose value, gold wise. if you don't care, then go ahead.
2. you just want gold. then buying an item to sell to marketplace so you have gold to get started isn't a bad idea.
3. spend cash to get yourself a sakura pegacorn, then go grind Lake kindred. it's a good investment if you can get it to lv 50 and go hunt sycamorte for gold.

as for myself,
I don't mind spending 5-10$ once a month or so.
especially when there's item that makes me want it that very moment it's out and I am not going to wait or when I am broke (like there's nothing I want to sell and I can't vend) that I need to replenish my gold so I can earn more.

I've recently come back and I honestly can't believe how God awful expensive and how much gold is being tossed around. Of course like always I come across items that instantly want, look at the price tag and cringe.
I've never bought gcash and I honestly want some feedback, is it worth it?[/quote

No . Unless you plan on buying and selling bundles.
For items I would say no cuz they get re released and prices drop to 20bil.if the item was 200bil.

^ This.

I bought GC a few times as I was questing and it helped, yes, but Lake Kindered is a non-invasive way to earn large amounts of gold quickly. It's a slow start but once you get used to it, it becomes rewarding. Also, if you're just coming back from hiatus, I found selling stuff I didn't like/care for anymore got me a good chunk of gold as well. Even smaller items add up if you have hoarded heaps! 3nodding

It seems like it's worth it to some since people obviously buy items with GC. Also if people wouldn't buy items with GC, you wouldn't be able to buy the items in the mp for gold either.

But you also have the option to do GC offers to get GC, instead of straight off buy GC.
