People have been saying "Gaia is Dying" since like, idk, 2011? At the very least.

That said, it's kind of tricky. Does Gaia need to focus on making what's currently available more accessible to new users, or does Gaia need an entire revamp before trying to promote itself?

I think the only active, 'modern' offshoot that Gaia has right now is their official twitter account. I don't recall how active their facebook is, and I don't even know if they have a tumblr.

Part of me wonders if they should just launch an Official Gaia Amino Community and focus on that while they clean up the site. There's a lot of dated stuff, or stuff that leads to nowhere on this site.

On a 17 year old website.

I think that's ok. I don't know the stats I know it seems low. the activity is/was usually like this around this time.

Everyone says this place is dying. I don't think it's dying. I hope the operating expenses make this website kinda financially solvent.

Did not know Gaia even had a Twitter

I joined Gaia Online early 2006 in sixth grade of Middle School through various accounts and usernames. There has always been constant activity in worlds, games, and forums. I was effortlessly making friendships that I remember through childhood and early adulthood that I cherish but it started dying in 2011 due to lack of promotion from the creators.

I attend several conventions around Texas and I'll see creators of RPG developers promoting their websites and merch but never Gaia Online. If there was more exposure, it will still be active by an abundant of users.

Right now, there is currently 2,548 Gaians Online and I never cross paths with any of the users that are active. I try to log in between my classes but I do agree with the majority that Gaia is dying.

Oh this again....

Gaia was dying the moment December in 2018 happened, see the ticket sales? Thats when the funds need to fill the glass. Gaia wasn't dying in 2014 though.

Well I like to make fun of our situation, but I think because its becoming more sad than funny, I'm out of jokes!

If Gaia does die or survive, its best not to say "GAIA IS DYING!" and just enjoy it while here.

Not even once I'm trying to make fun of this community
But rather, I'm very worried
Losing this community is hard to accept, especially when you already attached to it.

I'm here hoping for everyone to state their mind, to save our community and bring Gaia live again.
Gaia just needs to turn the place into a social networking site with the avis, marketplace, and the forums honestly. Keep the profile system and maybe keep some of the games alongside the manga. I'd also be fine with events still going on too.
If Gaia creates a new mobile games, maybe it will attract some people.
Gaia can make a simple game just using character avatars, such as Classic Turn based RPG.
And bringing old games such as monster galaxy to promote Gaia online page might be decent idea.

All of these ideas require programmers. Programmers are expensive. An average salary can be $70-$100K USD in California.

It's not dying. It's just slowed down in it's old age, but still alive and well. We're here! blaugh

They at least hired Codemonkey back recently. That's a good start. It shows growth and improvement. We also have new artists.

This is news to me. It's good they've re-hired Codemonkey.

I can't say I'm entirely happy with new artists being hired, if it means a lack of item diversity continues.

He's back! It's very exciting! As for the new artists, with how Gaia functions in waves, it's going to be at least another month before we see any new artist's work. They get the queue ready in advance and they've talked about staff training in the ATS before. So for now we should be supportive and try to build a good relationship with the new artists! I assume new people, means new perspectives! Numbers will still dominate what's produced, but I think we'll see a touch of something new.
