Awesome layering... Why can't I do that with OTHER items?!

I always like to find working layering combination of frame item (ravenwood's family portrait, last christmas snow globe,e.g. ) and background item biggrin

It's a fun yet frustrating process of finding which combinations works which combo doesn't,, and just because they layer,, doesn't always mean it looks good emotion_donotwant
The problem is not all background can layer perfectly with frame item so sad

One confusing layering issue I've run into recently is you can't wear the cig pose of the Devil's Spice with sunglasses. How can I look cool without sunglasses? Anyway, the only compromise I came up with is the Dr. Singh doll pose. Doesn't look as cool if I was wearing the Romani Glasses.

I wish the Runcible Spoon kitten heels would layer under skirts.

YES when I initially bought mines I was hoping I could use the heels in a ton of outfits but NOPE. Luckily I've started to like the other poses which justified the purchase.

Like literally when I was making this outfit I found out that a good bit of bracelets bump off the Cherry Flare blouse >:

My favorite layering has to be the Masquerade mascara over my Storge eyes. From cute to seductive in like BAM. But when I try to use my Sayaka hair with it, the right (leftmost?) mascara layers over the bangs. I swear to raptor jesus it wasn't like that before. emotion_donotwant

I got the same disappointment when I realised that the sugarsuite bloomers don't pair with runcible legs, it's really weird how they don't work with much >.>

But then I turned out to end up with this design that I like even better, thankfully band of bremen legs are much more versatile and the other poses of runcible are still adorable <3

What saddens me most layer wise, is not being able to combine hair more, like an SC cut with a full wig, to make more colour fringes. Sure we have some like the strudel (too big) and sbx and paramours break, but often, it can be really hard to make things like band of bremen fringe combine with existing hair styles. More fringes or the ability to layer hair more would be amazing <3

I did find the BEST combination of bremen fringe and wig, but I'm not wearing it right now, and haven't found any hair combinations I can use to put some brown into the agape hair (without strudel making my face look massive haha)

I finally got my hands on the Kricket Doll
Just to learn that it layers awfully with bangs.
All kind of bangs or streaks layer under the wig.
It's such a cute wig, but that layering issue is annoying

i have a problem with the monster masquerade shorts; they won't go over shirts. at least some of the shirts i tried with it anyway.

I absolutely love layering quirks. They really make my day! heart

I love overskirts, layering of tops, layering of hats, using high-rise pants to cut off a dress and layer a skirt over it, and items that cut off parts of other items.
Background quirks, where you only see the foreground effect of one layer, stuff like that.
It is FABULOUS.

And yes, sometimes you bump off items because they ended up on the same layer, but still!

oohooh I love playing with layering~

I really love the sunny hollandaise/sunset harvest + dress layering combo, because you can layer skirts over top! (I think berry mouse royale does it too? ... and there are some skirts that cut off the bottoms of dresses...)

hats/head items are the trickiest to layer imo because you think something will layer on top but then you try it and NO IT DOESN'T and that can get frustrating really quickly ;w;

I wear the Rufus Cosplay ears a lot and there are items and hats that will unequip one ear, not both, just one. It seemed to odd to me to be a one eared cat so I don't use those combos without a matching hat.

Some of my favorite layering quirky combos are

Alruna's NSFW pantyhose leg mod work with most items, even being equipable under other legmods because this item was put on a layer the others don't seem to be placed on a lot. Because of that, a lot of full-on leg mods unequip with skirts or shorts, which I find to be a huge problem. I wear those legs a lot simple because they are one of the only ones I know of that will work with a skirt or shorts, unlike Runcible Spoon's Legs, which only work with dresses.

The Nogitsune Firefox Kimono has some huge sleeve's that get in the way. One of my only saved avatars wears it. Arm mods completely remove those bulky sleeves giving that avatar a more streamlined look. Black arm mods are what I usually use. Now I find myself wishing for muscular, male black arms, since I recently changed to a male.

Berry Mousse Royale Ruffled Shorts are really nice to have. They cut the bottom off of most of the tops I have, will layer with skirts, chop the bottom off dresses so you can keep sleeves, and certain legmods work with them. You can't see them on my avatar right now, but this combo wouldn't be possible without them, since Officer Fairchild's shorts would be visible over the pants. The only thing they don't seem to work with are regular pants, but I don't mind since they are already so versatile.

my favorite is the golden laurels on top of the lumo the moga item.

it makes it look like some of the leaves in the laurel are green. emotion_c8

I found out by accident that the Soh Sari can layer over Amethyst Decorative Sari. And the two purples go well together.

However, this doesn't work with the Veli (green), Rili (blue), or Asoo (red) saris. They don't cover the decorative sari like the Soh Sari can. That and the colors/patterning don't match.

And to my recent delight, the Kanala's Top that came out the other day can layer over both and has a similar gold patterning like the decorative sari.

So, yeah, I like that I can do this in purple, but am sad that I can't replicate the look/effect with other colored sari.

I have actually been very annoyed with now those brown runcible legs don't work with much at all! :c
It's such a bummer
