Were you separating the distinct differences between "attracted" as sexually and "attracted" as a unique interest? Because I'm curious as to why you would agree at the base of the OP, AKA the thread title.
Your wording of your sentences makes no sense, to be fully honest.
That aside, from what I gathered from your response, I was agreeing because it depends on the type of furry that the person identifies as, as well as the attraction that is there. While it may offend you, even though you're a furry, there are other furries who would feel offended if the person or therian that they were with felt that it WASN'T animal-loving. I do not see bestiality (or beastiality, I don't understand the spelling) as wrong, so that may be why I'm perfectly fine with calling it that.
Honestly I feel many Therians are posers and only put on a facade because it's quirky or unique. That being said, while most bestiality isn't wrong (while others can be quite harmful), isn't zoophilia a more appropriate word, as those who are zoophile attempt to have a meaningful love relationship with an animal while bestiality is a lust or general turn-on that may or may not come with emotional attachment?
But yes, it does vary, and for the most part there are cliques in each fandom, amirite?
How is being a furry anything like being a fandom? And no, being therian is not such a thing. There are many other identities that are falsified and honestly fake, but identifying more with a certain animal is not. And perhaps. I've not really looked into the meaning of zoophilia before, so I'd have to do my research on that before giving you a finalized response.
Just like they have anime conventions and sci-fi conventions, there are furry conventions. It is totally a fandom, because there is an area of entertainment to BE a fan of.
Okay, Therian was explained to -me- by another furry while I was a newb that a Therian believes that they have the soul of an animal. While I do question the existence of souls, identifying with a certain animal is not, to me, what makes a Therian nor "gives" them the "soul" of an animal. I feel that my fursona, based off a lioness, does have some things in common with my own character or attributes that I like and think I see in myself. Simply because I admire lions does not mean that I have a soul of a lioness.
