Electronica is just a term people who don't listen to techno, rave, trance, etc. made up as a general term because they can't their un-attuned ears can't tell the difference between Rave and Trance and all they hear is the mainstream crap... so basically its a generalization that those of a lesser mind created! lol XD

I would say its all annoying, overly syncopated, and very few writers of said spew could be classified as musicians. And writing a remix of an actual song does not count.

These guys have some pretty good radios that show the difference between them. Trance is a hell of a lot more ambient than techno is.

I agree completely! Trance is more soothing "trance-like" genre and techno is a faster more energetic genre, lots of times having a synthed singer... Rave is more pounding and rarely any singing of any sort, it also goes on for much longer!

You are wrong. There... I said it. First of all the electronic music first started under the term of just electronic music. When the variety became greater between more and more different tracks made, different genre names where thought of. Starting with house (wich split up in the sub-genres of rave, hardcore, hardhouse, jump, hardstyle, new industrial, newstyle, darkcore, speedcore, terror, happy hardcore etc.) and techno (tekno, jungle, acid, etc.) and dance (trance, hard trance, etc.)

So it is not that rave is just a party, its also a style of music. And the difference between rave and techno is extreme nowadays. Unless ofcourse you look at it from the "I hate electronic music because it is stupid though I can't give any good arguments" kind of way.

Hardstyle
Terrorcore
Gabber
Speedcore

The steriotypical music for raves is usually Hardcore and Happy Hardcore.
