what is it like joining gaia in 2023?

I'll say this, I'm a little less than a month back after a 7 year hiatus with no access to my OG account. From day 1 sign up with nothing in my inventory to me writing this comment, I'm worth roughly 4.2mil plat. And no, I haven't spent an a** load of actual money on Gaia either. I also don't spend hours and hours a day here either, maybe 2-3 hours a day in total. In the spirit of full disclosure, I do have a mule account that I do all the dailies and things with too. I have no idea what other people's inventory and what not look like but so far? It's easy af for a noob to "get rich and have a ton of stuff" on Gaia now. Lol.

I’ve noticed this myself. I’ve been on here a week and gone from 5k plat to 85k plat without really trying, and a lot of items are like… 1 plat lol. There are definitely still items out of reach, but I’m at a point where I could actually imagine getting some of those.

Well, it's true that nowadays it's easier to get rich, but many interesting things have been lost, such as fighting against others during special events (now most of the events are for solo play) and all the interaction in the forums, now the forums are practically dead.

does anyone know what its like joining gaia in 2023? i was recently talking to a friend (who has never played) about gaia and i realized it was a community/game he would really like. ive been playing gaia for over 14 years now, and i have seen the market fluctuate like crazy over the years (i remember when having 1mil gold meant you were rich AF) and i was wondering how easy it is to make money nowadays and how much you start out with as a new player. since flash went down, i know a lot of the games that were previously played to make money no longer work (as far as i know.) hypothetically i could just make a new account and see for myself, but i figured id come on here and get some extra input from those who may have joined in the more recent years or anyone who is educated on the subject, thanks!! heart

SIDE NOTE: i havent transitioned from gold to platinum yet so if anyone knows the conversion and could tell me when talking about the starting amount it would mean a lot!! sweatdrop

As a person that grew up with the internet but never grew a deep interest for it until it was too late, I've always been a little sad I didn't;t get into certain groups or internet places when they first started or became popular. The same applies to forums. I love anything old, nostalgic, antique, retro, just old fun things, and forums on the internet are no different to me, I love them and really wished I was around in the earlier years of the internet so I could join and become a part of them. With that, I'm also just happy I'm interested at all, by now, a lot of things like forums on the internet are dated, and old, and to a new audience and generation, it isn't exactly everyone's favorite thing, so me being excited for old stuff like this I am very thankful for, to have that interest in my heart. Gaia was a little special, I know I joined Zelda Universe maybe 3-4 years ago, but for just joining Gaia sometime yesterday, I'm glad I did, and I get much more involved and modern experience. I don't prefer either forum over the other, they're both really different, but I think it would be nice to make frens and join a lot of forum discussions and change up my look and become involved like this, I'm very glad for all the opportunities that Gaia has to offer, and even though I wasn't here in the beginning, and that I won't be able to understand the history and inside jokes that everyone has, I'm glad I even joined at all! Thankkies, and I'll be working on my sig and bio and actual stuff soon, it's just there's so much already it'll take some time haha ^#W#^

I started on gaia in 2005, I quit in 2017.

I'd log in atleast once a year to peak at the site but this week I decided to become semi active again

And I feel like I won't be around long, and end up going back to my yearly check ins at this rate. Idk the site feels dead? Mp empty of every item and barely any threads are active. Idk if I just decided to come back at the wrong time or what. But the gaia I knew and loved feels like a fever dream now. I was hopeful a bunch of the newer generations were making it their own but yeah... feels like it really is empty. I think gaia needs to advertise or something lol.

i recently returned, once again. i started in 05 as a teenager and tend to come on every few years and try to get involved.
being a stay-at-home mom with art aspirations and nostalgic memories of this place helps when it comes to me wanting to be here. i'm very bummed about the flash games going down, especially when it seems like most other sites made the transition to html5, etc. my friends who were more active than i was don't come on here anymore. i miss the place it once was.
