I'd probably only cook if my life depended on it. And even then, it would suck 0.16 16.0% [ 4 ]

This is the type of stuff I only dream about cooking. I'm uncreative....and pretty clumsy in the kitchen....

You don't have to be creative! You just have to find the right recipe!

I would be completely unable to cook anything without recipes.

I love cooking! I learned how to cook during the pandemic. Since I'm filipino, I cook a lot of filipino food like sinigang or sisig. I have a love-hate relationship with cooking lasagna because it takes bazillion years to cook, but it's delicious!! It's my favourite food 3nodding

Tried baking but it wasn't for me... I find it very difficult </3

My reasons for learning how to cook are actually pretty similar to those who learned how to cook during covid - I'm not working, stuck at home all day, and BORED out of my mind lol.
I haven't had lasagna in ages!!! Pasta dishes in general are some of my favorite food emotion_kirakira Especially things like chicken alfredo, chicken parmesan and baked ziti.

Baking can be very difficult and sometimes even like science if it's done the hard way, but quite a few recipes (yes, even scratch recipes) are very easy!

Too those sound so good!
I love cooking, so is my family so I been cooking p much all my life
I like making a bunch of different things but mostly roasted chicken and veggies, seared fish, pasta dishes, stir fry, curry
Baking is fun too! I wanna make banana bread now emotion_drool

My family loves cooking but I didn't get that gene lol.
The roasted chicken as well as pasta sounds good! I love pasta emotion_kirakira
The banana bread turned out really good! It had a soft middle (my favorite) and didn't have any disgusting nuts in it, or chocolate chips to ruin the flavor.
pasta is the besttttttt
Oh hehe I love adding some coffee and chocolate chips to my banana bread whee

.. coffee?
That sounds non-traditional but I LOVE coffee flavored anything so tell me how you do it lol
ye! The best way to get a stronger coffee flavour without ruining the liquid ratio is instant coffee
Just do like two tablespoons of warm water and instant coffee, make sure it all dissolves and mix it in
It’s so good with the coffee, gives that extra somethin that I think banana bread needs

My spouse is an incredible cook, and I hate to cook. I lucked out.

...But life happens and sometimes I have to step up to the plate.
My go-to ingredients are chicken breast and potatoes. Both are so versatile- grilled chicken breast with veggies and mashed potatoes, soup staples, potato pancakes and chicken nuggets, or something fancier like stuffed chicken breast and potatoes in a sauce. Both are dirt cheap where I live, too, so it keeps us in budget. Otherwise, I just use whatever I have on hand- meat, veggie, and starch, sometimes with a fat or a fruit.

Took me so long to figure out that you can literally make a meal with any combination of those three things. Made cooking much easier and more enjoyable. Got pork, rice, and greens? Asian stir fry. Got beef, noodles, and broccoli? Throw that in a white sauce and call it a day. Even for more complex ingredients this works. Goat, potato, and rice? Congrats, you've got yourself the makings of a fine Indian curry (or if you're out of rice, break out the flour and make some quick naan, throw it on some lentils, etc.).

Tonight we had ground beef available, so we did tacos. Meat is beef (other protein is beans), starch is corn, and vegetables are the lettuce, tomato, onion, etc on top. There's even a fat- we use Greek yogurt as sour cream, but either would fit here.

For lunch I made some sandwiches because our bread was going bad. Bread is the starch, leftover ham and turkey for the meat, and lettuce, tomato, etc for the veggies. Cheese added for a fat.

This is how we do every meal in my household, though. One meal is free each day- you can have whatever you want for either breakfast or lunch, be it a handful of granola (carbs), a salad (all veggies), a charcuterie board (meats and fats), etc. Priority goes to any food on its way out. One meal, either breakfast or lunch, is leftovers. And then dinner follows the trifecta recipe. Makes the grocery shopping easy- we make sure we always have a variety of staples on hand, replace when they get low or run out, and then just shop the starch, veggie, and meat sales whenever we go.

That sounds incredibly detailed (one meal being leftover for instance), but I'm glad it works for you and your household! And it doesn't sound too hard to cook either.
Everyone in my household is on different schedules so we rarely coordinate our meals. Which sucks because I'm someone who likes to "eat dinner as a family" (but I also miss a lot of dinners by being so picky and being on my own to make my food anyways) .
I like to cook with recipes, preferably highly rated ones with a lot of reviews. There's quite a few food blogs and websites out there that I really trust for this and that I got from my trusty brother who has cooked a LOT more than I ever could.

And I completely feel you on not enjoying cooking. I find it incredibly tedious, boring, overwhelming and stressful at the same time.

How much of each item do you prepare? I cannot imagine only that for the whole week.

Sorry for the confusion, my cousin got confused about this too! So I don't normally cook ANY meals a week and get my food by non-cooking methods lol. So what I mean is I'm making two homemade meals and one dessert (as my goal) a week and the rest of my meals will be my usual food.
But I usually prepare enough for two to three people (depending on who is home) and some leftovers because my household is small.
What's your usual food?
