I fell for it once. Never again.
Some lady called me and convinced me I owed them $200+ dollars from an old account I had with
another cell phone business. I'm like "Oh, well I finally just got a new job so I can pay that once I
get paid again soon!" They didn't care at all.

I was so stupid... They basically took my first paycheck. This was YEARS ago though.

I saw people saying how they were gonna get more money from people and made signs that would compel people to give him more money. I had spent the last three years house hopping after escaping my abusive household. I never thought to do that because I was looking for work and living with family. It should be a crime to pretend to be homeless. (there shouldn't be homeless, but that's a feature of the society that we currently live in)

learned my lesson the hard way with trying to consolidate all my student debt.

My folks got to go to college for free.


Me? Not so much, so I was navigatin this stuff on my own, and had no idea the US Education Dept did this for free.

I ended up losing $500 to a student loan scam.


It was a tough pill to swallow along with some humble pie.


Now days I'm much more vigilant than all those years ago. It sucks that when I was job hunting, I got so many job scam offers because I was desperate and posted on job boards online.

I have a decent job now

but I still keep gettin scam job offers. They are looking more and more legit at a passing glance, but their wording and language is still wrong for what they're trying to offer.

the scam was that after I sent the money, nothing was done about the debt. It wasn't consolidated, nothing changed.

it wasn't till an embarrassingly long time later that I learned that the Dept of Education does that stuff for free, and I have federal loans, so it shouldn't have cost me extra to consolidate and create 1 monthly payment.
