Are there any active sites like gaia?

Does it run well? I made an account at launch, but the site ran so slow that I wasn't even able to make my starting character - though, they did tweet afterwards that they weren't expecting the response they received and had to get better site bandwidth (? i think that's what it's called)

I have had no problem so far. They must have gotten enough bandwidth for the site to cover the amount of use.

You should all stop talking about other avatar sites real fast. I had a Mod warn me it's against the site rules a few months ago, when I told someone of a site similar to Gaia in a post.

I've just come back from a MULTI-year hiatus and am surprised to see it still active. I AM GLAD. I have missed the forums. The internet is general isn't as nostalgic or pleasant...but I've always enjoyed forums and am glad to see GAIA still embracing them.

I will be active as long as I can!

Hi there! I was away for a long long time and this is the first time I post. It all looks the same...though back in the day I was really into Gaia, now I just feel lost XD Too many stuff to do and see...but the foruns are still unique.

I have looked at all the previously mentioned avatar sites mentioned, and none compare to Gaia (all appear to be low grade knockoffs). While I agree that the majority of people enjoy using FB, IG, TikTok, and Twitter, what makes me curious is why users don't seek the anonymity that you get on a site like Gaia. Kind of like reddit in that it lets you talk to people without (voluntarily) disclosing your identity. Just a thought.

There's active web sites, but they're not going to be avatar community web sites. Other avatar community web sites actually have smaller, more tight-knit populations compared to Gaia. And some (like Roliana) have actually shut down.

Best get a video game like FF14. Not many avatar forum sites these days for social aspects.

Maybe CB can be a good place since that is the most active forum in Gaia now.

Gaia really is the only active avatar site left.

Dappervolk is probably going to shutter within it's first year due to horrible issues. Their active base was 3K now it struggles to pass 200 active users at a time. The devs pretty much ignore the site unless it's to release the MC's. :/ A shame, the art is gorgeous.

Voltra is probably my 2nd place I spend most of my time on. It's slow moving but I really do enjoy the community and their custom tickets are made way faster than Gaia's AND the dev's are hella active. I feel like Voltra was made from people who were disappointed in other avi sites and created this. It's really great, I hope it gets more popular. Their Halloween event was FANTASTIC.

Rolia Online went under, which sucked.

Solia became this weird web browser game which sucked cuz I liked their pixel avi's the most.

Menewsha has been abandoned by the admins and it's 100% dead. The last admin logged in to say to jump ship, the site goes down in a few years when the server bills go unpaid. I liked that site a lot.

There's other pets sites that are more active than Dapper but I cant remember their names tbh.

My go to place besides gaia is Kofk.de (Kingdom of Knuffel) The forums are alittle dead when there's not an event but thats the case with almost all these dressup sites now. The items and avatars are adorable and the creators are super nice as well. ^^

I remember when Kingdom of Knuffle was a Breeding Pet shop on Gaia lol.

Oof, you were not here when the site was actually dying, Gaia is slowly making a comeback at this point! Other than Recolor, I can only think of Dappervolk, which actually came out pretty recently.
