allow me to explain.

in a topic i posted earlier (which can be found here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/c-t-tech-talk/problems-with-galaxy-s/t.84876839/ )

i found out that the reason i can't get in download mode (which i'll need to get my phone back to normal) is because in my system settings it says that my Galaxy S( GT-i9000) is a Samsung Captivate (SGH-i896)

The Samsung Captivate uses a button to go into download mode that the GT-i9000
doesn't have (I believe a third volume button)

i've been searching all day for something to fix this, but i can't find anything.

To make matters even worse, whenever i connect it with a USB cable, the phone just shuts off and does nothing until i take the USB cable out, same for chargers.

Is anyone here capable of helping me? smile

Man, you really tore your phone a new one, eh?

Are you unable to reach recovery or bootloader (vol + home + power when [OFF] )completely? I would assume that you've already tried to use either of these already.

What things have you *not* had issues with outside of the OS level? Does the phone power on when plugged in while off? Does it respond when off and plugged in?
As I said in your other thread (which you ignored),
Make sure you have ADB on your computer, turn on USB debugging, connect the phone via USB to the computer, and run
ADB reboot fastboot
from command prompt and it will boot into fastboot mode.
Then you can run ODIN.

I am terribly sorry for that, but i could only find an app with that name for the phone.
if you could provide a link that would be great.

And again my apollogies, it wasn't my meaning to make you feel ignored, especially since you are only trying to help me.

EDIT: i found it, I will try this and see if it works

Doesn't work, but the screen now turns on again for a moment after plugging in the USB cable, so in a sense, i'm making progress

Yeah i messed it up badly, i just wanted to root my phone. (actually i just wanted to play Black Ops: Zombies without paying €30 for it.)

i used ODIN and followed all the instructions inthe right way. it failed and my phone got messed up.
after that KIES froze when i tried do restore it, and now i am here.

you mean with Skype?
that would be great, since i can't really explain things in text, i thought about making a YT video, but i think that would help more.

Thing is, i live in Europe it's 12 o'clock there (midday)
and i don't know if that works with timing
