That will eventually lead it to eventually block Gaia's Domain as IMGUR did.

Edit: they keep your filename in the url, so if you want something short like imgur does, you can rename your file, I guess. sweatdrop

Night Update: Some users are reporting that some of their images are displaying again. A supposed fix is to change the url to http://oi.imgur.com. This has worked on a case by case basis for only some users.

I've noticed if you take out the first i. when you view the image, it'll pop back up on Gaia, IF you turn OFF AdBlock Plus Nevermind, they are cached images rolleyes

What a disaster. I don't know what to do ... I run an image heavy thread and Guild ... moving everything to another hosting site is going to be HELL. I'm not sure if it's worth it....

I feel that my guild uses a lot of imgur so right now it looks broken. Thankfully it is just a private guild so really I can fix up my character profiles and images when I have the time.

I know my hubby's going to have a time of it updating ALL his resource guides too. ;__; I hope that there is just some bug going on. So not everything has to be uprooted, but that's really lame on Imgur's part. ^^;

Yay, Gaia has reached out to Imgur also! Hopefully we will hear something soon. Sadly I haven't gotten a email back from them yet.

This might be good for us, since it's actual staff talking with the imgur staff instead of regular users.

I'm sad to hear gaia got blocked by imgur. Time to find a new site to upload pics. probably FlickR, but I don't think they do gifs like at all.

I haven't read if Flickr says yes or no to Gifs. The ToS for Flickr is pretty much the standard Yahoo ToS. Seeing as how Flickr is for sharing, hosting, and embedding photos on blogs and websites and the like, as well as having a curated gallery on Flickr, it's a good alternative until the Imgur issue is resolved if ever. I'd put all static images on Flickr and all gifs on another site until we know for sure they allow gifs. I have a Flickr account but I don't use it much and have used it for hosting things for Gaia when Photobucket has those periods of time where they don't let you upload things for maintenance reasons.

@Thread: Here's the thing people don't seem to be remembering about imgur. Imgur started out as a quickie meme and viral image upload site. It was for anonymous images with no accounts linked to them. The images were designed to go poof from the website after a period of time when the link was no longer being clicked on. All images uploaded without an account are supposed to have an expiration on them if they're not very popular. The more popular the image the more views it gets the longer it stays on the site. That's why they demand all images must link back to imgur. That's why they don't want people embedding things because it becomes a work around the click the link to see the image and make it popular aspect of the site though now that's pretty much an obsolete function of the site. Alan Schaffer needs to changed the ToS of the site if he's going to be changing the functionality of the site. Six years back he allowed accounts. Last year he started allowing images to be kept forever on the site. Imgur is no longer a "Make it popular" anonymous image uploading site. It's now a full blown alternative to Photobucket and Flickr. What is allowed and not allowed needs to change and be spelled out where people can gain easy access to it. This is going to ruin imgur's image within the broader web community. Because why would he allow images to be embedded if he doesn't want them embedded on other sites?

That isn't the issue. The issue is bandwidth expense. Naturally when you start hosting images permanently and in large quantities, having all of that extra traffic due to embedded/hotlinked images can not only crash servers (as it has done in the past for Imgur) but also cost a lot of money to maintain.

Imgur gets no benefit from hotlinks because people aren't directed to their site and therefore they aren't receiving any ad revenue or direct traffic.
