Welcome to Gaia! ::

Kurogane and Fai are not canon-yaoi. >_>; If anything, Kurogane was more strongly hinted towards Tomoyo.

And the angels and devils? I personally believe that they were meant to be genderless. Remember that scene when Kohaku told the grandfather that he/she/it wasn't a girl, nor a guy? I can't remember the exact wording, but... The old man was commenting on how adorable a girl Kohaku is, and Kohaku went "but I'm not a girl!"

And the man went eek at him/her/it, and said musingly that boys could be this cute, too... And Kohaku said that he/she/it wasn't a guy, either.

They do imply that there are sexual relations of some sort. Maybe celestial-ified, but it's something close to human sex, at least. But since they're sexless... It's pretty safe to say that it's not shounen-ai. (Although they're too guyish for it NOT to be meant to be shounen-ai... sweatdrop

Very True. And in Card Captor There's even some Shoujo-ai hints with Tomoyo and Sakura, but nothing canon as far as I know.

But Yukito/Touya is canon! ^-^

X is very slashable to, but they never come right out and say it.
I think it's pretty obvious that CLAMP has certain tendencies towards shounen-ai, and a little shoujo-ai. *shrugs* Although they keep stressing that their work ISN'T, but we fans know the truth, don't we? wink

Oh yes, we know. We all know. They just lie to keep the homophobes happy. All the blind little kids and such. But us fans KNOW the truth. There is ALWAYS at least one really slashable couple in Clamps work.
Oh, I'm not thinking slashable. I'm thinking "too damn obvious" manga/anime-canon. 3nodding

Yaoi fangirls can slashify ANYTHING. *shudders* I'm not against yaoi/shounen ai, but I don't really like to see a couple of random hot guys thrown together and made to go at it. A little basis in canon, if you'd please. gonk

Ehh, let's see... I don't remember anything canon-shounen ai in Chobits... xd Nor Angelic Layer...

Well, I haven't seen enough from either of those so...who knows.

But yes, Clamp takes Slashable to a new level. Unless you are really blind and need to spelled out for you, you can tell they are canon.
The only manga I read and enjoyed by CLAMP was Legend of Chung Hyang, and I don't ever recall seeing anything shouen aisih in that manga

Hm, never saw that one either. Damn.

Ok, but Legal Drug has 2 almost canon couples by itself so...
Let's keep in mind that all the artists for Clamp are female, and girls frequently have a much more lax view of idealized male behavior than men do. I also happen to think it would be wonderfully appropriate for more hugging and touching to go on between men.

Also for the reccord, all the angels and devils in Wish are genderless :/ though the angels are referred to as She and the devils as He, they're still androgenous figures.

Legal Drug has been speculated as too having hints of male relationships, same thing with the characters in X1999, but most of these are just in conjunction with what fans would want. Same thing goes for all the little femboys in Campus Detectives :I

That's what everyone says, but it seems like a very tinted view. They may not come out and say it, but anyone who can read between the lines would gather that. It seems very obvious.
there's no shonen-ai or yaoi, or even any BL in CLAMP's works... they theselves have confirmed exactly that.

Cardcaptor Sakura, Master of Clow arc. Touya and Yukito confess their love. I have the manga of it.

it's not the main plot, so it cant be classified as as shonen-ai or BL.

I am aware of that. But there are BL elements in many of their works, which is what this thread is about.
