------

We just released the outfits shop (beta). This thread is both for feedback, from you, and to give you info, since there seems to be a little bit of confusion.

URL to shop: http://www.gaiaonline.com/marketplace/outfits/

This is a beta feature, so there are bound to be some problems. Don't worry, we'll fix 'em all in time!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What happens when I sell an outfit?
When you list an item for sale, you are putting up for sale _all_ of the items that are part of that outfit. This is, as some people have called it, selling items in bulk. In exchange, you are getting gold for those items, and your creativity. Until your outfit sells, or you cancel the listing, those items will be unavailable in your inventory (they're in escrow).

Why is there no equip list?
This what done so that people can't view a listed outfit's equip list, and then create the outfit themselves. We have added the marketplace average price for all the items in the outfit. This should help with some people's worries about being scammed. You could also PM the owner and ask them if they're willing to let you know what's in the outfit.

How do I sell an outfit?
You go to the avatar page, and bring up your outfits: http://www.gaiaonline.com/avatar/?oufits=1
Click on the '$' icon. This will bring up a window, with the outfit, and price input field. For your convenience, we've added an "Outfit value", which is the marketplace average price of all the items.

Can I set my own price?
We don't set a price for you, so yes, you can sell the outfit for whatever price you like.

Does my outfit listing expire?
Yes. It will expire 7 days after you listed it.

Is everything in the preview included?
Yes. If something doesn't show on your avatar, it's either a bug, or some item(s) in that outfit are gender specific and your avatar is of the opposite gender. You will still get the items in the outfit, they just wont equip. If it's a bug, you'll be able to equip it like all other items in your inventory. Things like hair, eyes, and skins (things which are not items), do not transfer. This is why we have a preview available.

I bought an outfit. Do I have to use the items together?
No, you don't. You can choose to equip the outfit as is, or use the items individually. The outfit items are in your inventory, and you can do with them as you please.

I have many outfits for sale. Is the shop the only place where people can see them?
No. All outfits that you put up for sale are also available in your marketplace userstore under the "Outfits" tab.
Why is there no 2% tax? That's a massive goldsink, and I'm disappointed to not see it in the Outfit Marketplace.

There's also a problem with handhelds not showing up right now.

Other than that, while I can't see myself utilizing it, it seems very interesting.

The items should be listed. Items like EIs will look exactly the same, but the price can be drastically different.

Gaian

There should be a tax, just like with the MP.

And I think the items should be listed. People would like to know what they're paying for.
I, too, believe that items should be listed. I want to know what I'm getting. There's also an opportunity for people to scam others without the items listing. It is possible to make an expensive-looking avatar without such a steep price. This can lead to people overpricing their outfits, and without being able to see what items come in the package, it is impossible to tell whether or not you are getting scammed. Yes, people can buy the items individually, but people are paying for the convenience of buying everything in one fell swoop, rather than searching for it in the shops and MP.

I refuse to use the outfit marketplace until items are listed.

Edit: I also believe there should be some sort of notification when you are going to buy an outfit that has items for only male or female avatars. In the preview, the items simply disappear. However, some items may be hard to miss. Why not put in red text, "This outfit contains male/female-only items" on the confirmation page? I think it would stick out much easier.

As with the regular MP, outfits should also be taxed 2%. The lack of a tax allows users to circumvent the standard marketplace tax, and as people are selling outfits which cost substantially more than a single item, there is less gold being taken out of the system (larger sale = more taxed = more gold out of the system). I feel that is only fair to apply the same rules and regulations to the outfit marketplace as you do the regular market place. It makes things even.

Edit 2: I see that you are letting sellers list the items in the outfit, but I believe this should be mandatory, not optional. I don't see any reason why a seller would not want the items listed. It's not any inconvenience to them. Please, make listing all items in the outfit mandatory! Protect your users from getting scammed! This can become a huge problem if left as-is and can ruin the outfit marketplace experience for many, not to mention its reputation. If people find themselves getting scammed on high-priced outfits, users will simply not use the outfit marketplace anymore, making it useless.

Some other people in this forum have also made a good point: no outfits with only one item. The outfit marketplace is for complete outfit designs, not a single item. There should be a minimum item requirement for an outfit.

Lastly there seems to be a problem with the way Gaia estimates the worth of an item. It's either too high or too low. This has been an ing problem in the marketplace, and I believe should be fixed.

Humorist

I want to know what items are listed. Sure, I could "take" an idea and run off and make it myself, but I don't want to find out I just spent 200k on an outfit I could have gotten in separates for 50k.

Tiny Shapeshifter

Sweet. Okay, here's couple things I would like to see added to the outfit MP.

1. Password confirmation page/etc. We lacking them from both selling and buying page, which is bad. Even though people shouldn't be giving out their pw, it's odd that we have to confirm our pw with single items, and not on an outfit that is a set of items. >_>; Glad to hear you're going to add this.

2. Search feature. When typing in a name of a specific item, all outfits containing said item will show up. Say, typing in "kitten star" will bring up all outfits that contain the items Kitten Star (and its variants), and the Kitten Star Mood Bubbles (pretty much going by tags here). If you type in, say, "Pokemon", all outfits that were named Pokemon by the seller (in the dress up page) will show up. If you type in "green", the first outfit that you see will be an outfit that contains a lot of "green" items (again, item tags), so an outfit with 10 items with green tags in its list will appear prior the outfit that only have 1 item that contains green tag.

3. I assume the maximum slots for selling Outfits in MP is 12, but I could be wrong since the outfit you're currently selling disappears from the outfit list in your dress up page. I would like there to be a limit of up to 6 slots (half of current outfit slots for personal use and half for MP use) just to keep down on the clutter, or maybe 10 slots like regular MPs. Nice to see that you're going to have old outfits leave after certain amount of time. I still would like to see some sort of limit on the slots. Mucho thanks for considering maximum 10 slots suggestion. Happy to also hear one item outfits aren't going to be allowed anymore.

4. Like others have mentioned, I would like the item list to be viewable. It's better for one to go gather up the items separately than to rely on the seller who may lie about what items makes up for the outfit he/she is selling. If we're going to worry about "it's my outfit idea, and you stole it" then why not have the equip list be an option? If the seller want others to see the whole list of items that makes up the outfit, they can click on the box that says "show equip list". If they don't want the equip list to be viewable by the buyer, they can uncheck the box. Sweet. Optional is good. :3

Assimilated Shapeshifter

I'd like to have the ability to search outfits by their outfit names. Or maybe allow for customizable tags? gonk

Shameless Enabler

This needs a sales tax.

And where the heck is the password conformation?
THAT really erks me and will have me staying as far away from this feature as possible.
So far that there is no password is a little annoying and as already said by many I'd like to be
able to search outfits or certain color styles. Some kind of search would be great.
It goes a little too fast, no confirmation screen I'd like to make sure I entered the right numbers
before it goes ahead and sells it.
But overall I do enjoy it.

..ehhe. Can't buy anything at all. I know there will be glitches, but this feature is rendered useless until it can actually be used. D:

I would like it if I could cancel a sale. And be warned about the items I would be selling. Again, I would like it if I could cancel the sale, since at the moment I can't cancel it.
