• A movie.
I yearn to be a movie.
May the sound of film scores fill your ears,
    For they are my veins.
    The actors don new faces
    And live their lives anew,
For they are the organs of my body.
    The screen forms my flesh;
Can you read my body language?
The action, the comedy, the drama…
In my life they should prosper.
In front of hundreds of eyes,
    I give my best.
As the picture frames speed on by,
    Day becomes night,
    Night becomes day,
And the scenes are ever changing.
    Suspense one moment,
    Tears at another.
May the audience ooh and ahh.
The harsh critics shall not faze me.
I may be put aside for a while,
But let me not fall out of favor.
I do not crave the dusty corner on the shelf,
Nor do I picture other films stacked atop me in the future.
May I be the worn but well-loved movie,
    The favorite amongst many,
    Cherished by a few.
For a while, it’s the big screen,
The excitement when I first premiere.
And when I’ve grossed all I can,
When I make my producers proud,
I can transition easily to the small screen,
Where a family can enjoy some moments together,
A couple can share some laughs,
A lonely person can be comforted.
    And when I grow old,
May I be with Casa Blanca and Gone With the Wind].
    The Godfather and Titanic.
Dances with Wolves and The Sound of Music.
Forrest Gump and To Kill A Mockingbird.
    Braveheart and Rocky.
May I share the space beside the classics,
Forever remembered for my youth in my old age.
