So tell me, Mister Alighieri what it had been like,
To travel through the depths of Hell
With Vergil as your guide.
Tell me, Mister Alighieri where you had gone wrong,
That you were forced to wander about
In that forest dark.
Now tell me, Mister Alighieri, as I’m rather vexed,
How is it that you were to walk through Hell
Just like Satan’s pet?
Please forgive me, Mister Alighieri, so I don’t offend,
But a trip through Hell? You’re kidding me,
The Devil won’t have guests.
So, Mister Alighieri, I will ask again,
How is it that you went through Hell,
Without a scrap or scratch?
Did Beatrice watch over you?
Or was it your poet pet?
Now, Mister Alighieri, I will walk away,
To leave you to your jokes and pranks
We’ll chat another day.
