• Night Lights

As I looked up into the sky
    There, I saw a firefly.
And as I watched him from afar,
It seemed he thought he was a star.

As I watched him dance about,
    Suddenly his light went out.
Worried, I gazed towards the spot.
I could not see a single dot.

As I got up to my feet,
    I saw something really neat.
Though the fly was gone from sight,
Shooting stars lit up that night.

    Puppy Play

    While roughhousing on the rug
My puppy’s tail I did tug.
Angered she did turn to bite
And she gave me quite a fright.

She was wrong, that she did know
And so to me, she did bow low.
For my forgiveness she did beg,
As she nuzzled ‘gainst my leg.

She was so cute that it was hard
For me to keep up my guard.
While my heart melted, I’d forget
This conflict I had with my pet.
