• In the city that always sleeps,
    Mice do not stir,
    Bikes do not ride,
    And vision is a blur.

    In this silent, somber city,
    People do not wake,
    Cars do not bustle,
    And the earth never quakes.

    The city lay in slumber,
    Lying in wait of visitors.
No one notices the forgoten city.
    In fear it shudders.

    The small city lie limp,
    Deaf, and dumb.
    From lack of movement,
    The city is numb.

Bits and pieces of the city
    Fall away from the foundation.
    It will soon drift away,
    away from its nation.

    Its sweet, tired wake
    Float out to sea.
    Wishing in the breeze,
    "Please someone save me?"

    The last of the earth
    Is licked by ocean spray.
The city falls into the ocean
    Being carried away.

It drifts far off the coast,
    Roots into the sea.
    Digging its way in
    Like you did to me.

    The city never woke,
    Never let out a scream.
    The city that always sleeps
Will always be in my dream.
