• The Grey Angel

Angels be good and angels be damed,
However they are seen these beings are grand.
They are branded good and evil, neither side makes sense,
The light opposed to the dark can bring out all that is tense.

But there are few such as those who scribe this tale,
Ones who never ascended nor ever fell.
Shades of black and of the brightest white now faded into grey,
Not a being of dark nor light, a bringer of hope to those who have lost their way.

Shunned by the divine, so despised by evil,
and only for existing is what brought about this upheaval.
Left on my own from my early days, so slowly did they drift into night,
Gazed upon with pity and envy whenever I am held in sight.

A saint to those who see themselves who as unable to be saved, I bring them light,
I aid them in battles against a darkness that they themselves can only fight.
Bred from God's own light, I am not so different from you,
There have been many seasons in my life where I have lost the will to pursue.

I did not inflict harm upon myself or end it in a sudden bang,
No, I willingly through myself at my own demons, "Take Me Now!" I sang.
And so they took me, on my own I fought in hopes that I may die,
But in the end I manifested my own light and took to the sky.

As accustomed to, no aid came to me, I persevered on my own,
Through this life of solitude, I tread this path alone.
People claim me quiet, stupid, ignorant to what others feel,
Truth be told it is through the silence that their secrets are revealed.

I stand as an emblem to all those who have ceased to hope,
The quiet one who's voice they never hear, that allows them to cope.
The Creator gives us silence as an answer, the traitor attempts to enthrall,
I only ask for you to listen so that I may tell the truth of all.

Time has left me scarred, and through time this heart has been left to die,
envied by humans, to say I didn't pity them would be a lie.
Why is it that your kind refuse to acknowledge what they truly have,
So few realize this, they never seem to smile or even laugh.

There is no light left within me, so for you I hope to guide a way,
Left in the shadows, I hope to bring forth the dawn of a new day.
I offer a chance of self-forgiveness for what you believe you have done wrong,
and so for those who have lost their faith, I scribe this song.

"Upon your new dawn, you may see this broken man bearing grey wings,
A silent angel, an ancient scribe who rarely sings.
And if you hear him, you will realize how to pursue your dreams,
And in the pitchest of black, a spark of light can be found, that is what this angel deems."
