• Each day they sat
    Side by Side
    And he would glance over
To try and catch a glimpse of her eyes

    This day he sat down
    Built up his courage
    Prepared to speak
And then she turned to him

And to his surprise she announced,

"Do not speak to me your trickery
    Your tales of great triumph
    Your stories of strength
    Nor your dreams of success

    I've heard them before
And I will not be taken in
    Try not to enchant me
    With the lies of man

    I shall ignore your words
    Cast away your whispers
    Rise above your shouts
    And duck below your pleads

    Dare you still?
For I will waste no time
    In striking out
    And fending you off

    Like a wizard you chant
Like magic you cast your spells
But I know underneath you are a dragon
Needing to be slain like your brethren

    So once more I warn!
Do not burn my ears with your hot breath
Don't dare to stab at my heart with your language
And above all, do not sing to me

    With the lies of man."

    He turned away
    She stared straight ahead
    And like always
The ride was one of silence.
