• See the leaves as they twirl,
    raining from the sky as an eruption of fire
    watch these tragic roses unfurl,
    promising romance; the true words of a liar.
    Hear the beat of my heart,
    suicidal yet frantic under your gaze
    listen to these thoughts tear me apart,
    for there isn't enough insanity in this craze.
    Cupid's lethal arrow struck me bullseye,
    poisoning my reasoning, a precarious snake venom;
    as if I'm trapped inside a beautiful jar, a firefly,
    for my chance of escape is zero to none.
    How I wish there was a phobia,
    to keep me from seeing you
    and, if only this erratic insomnia
    wouldn't crack my heart in two.
