“Love + Loss”
How long does it take
For a nightmare to end,
For a spell to break
For a heart to mend.

Gone with the wind,
And up and away
Never to return
Ever since that day.

Take me away
And take away this pain
Just take it all
Flush it down the drain.

Like a poison
It flows in my veins
If I die please,
Don’t let it be in vain.

The heart may flutter,
Like the wings of a bird,
So light and so free
It has not yet learned.

The pain of rejection,
Tore my soul in two.
Makes me feel impure,
Like I haven’t paid my dues.

Three years gone by,
All out of luck.
You wasted my time,
And you don’t give a ********.

There I go, gone forever.
An opportunity lost and wasted.

Love can hurt,
You caused me to be blind,
And all you did was waste my time,
Yet you are still on my mind.

You made me who I am,
Never felt like that before,
Took a long time but,
You’re the one I used to adore.

It was hard to give up,
The dreamy feeling I had.
Made my heart leap, not anymore.
That’s too bad.

I know my place,
And I know your face.
Now let me be,
And let me be free.

I think that this poem is beautifully sad/painful...at least for me as I can fully relate to the words. I have many poems that portray simialr emotions, but this was better than a lot of the ones I attempted to write. 5/5
