• Down by the willows
    where the small stream glides,
    a brown river trout
    swims to where he hides.
    A water buffalo waits
    standing mighty and strong,
he hopes the glorious rains will come
for the grasses have left him so long.
    As the river turtle floats
    he closes his aging eyes,
    he dreams of butterfly sandwiches
    and juicy grasshopper pies.
Thunder begins to rumble in the distance
and the four-leggers run to hide,
    except for waiting buffalo
who joyously watch the darkening sky.
This rainstorm above the stream was a giver,
to the thirst of the buffalo
    down by the river.
