• Standing proudly in the center of the grassland
A lady with eyes of copper,
    Feet of stone,
And a heart of gold, rest in her hands
The wind is the only true friend
For a long while it seems,
    As deer frolic and play
    In the cool November air
    Geese sing their song
    While flying ahead and beyond
Of what she cannot seem to understand
Immobile for the rest of time,
    Even so
She’s always watching with a heavy empathy
For she knows what is to befall this beautiful place
Black soot will fall from the heavens
    Tainting her white negligee
Her body will be stained, corrupted by soiled hands
    Eyes once innocent
Will be filled with the abrasion of every woman’s shame
Her feet, chipped and hammered to
Will be the response of those in pain
    Beyond their normal years
    And her heart of gold...
    Ripped from her considerate hands
    Long ago
When the war first started to show
When men took what didn’t belong to them
When they stole what was so graciously bestowed upon them
When they took the spirit of a woman
    And broke her so thoroughly.
Someone who was given the mind, body,
And soul to keep after them
To love them without a disgrace
With blinded eyes, and compassionate sensitivity
What are they given in return?
    A shattered remain
    Of what we once were.
    Just a hated image
    We see in the mirror
    Looking back at us,
With those tear filled, copper eyes.
They shed upon her porcelain skin
Ravished by unclean minds, and rusted with lustful gaze
    When she moves,
For the first time in all eternity,
    She reaches down
And presses her hands against her stomach
And looks at herself yet again
    In that damned mirror
    And smiles
    As her posture freezes
    Forever more.
    Awaiting the day
    That man will receive
    the pure blanket of illumination
    Unveiled there enclosed ignorant eyes
And see what they have done
So that they can bow there heads in humiliation
Of what them themselves have cursed
    ahead all of humanity
    But she still will be
    there in the meadow,
Hand in hand with her son
That she loves with all her soul
    And teach him the way
    Of graciously praying a thanks
    For all he has received
    Watching him as he grows
And the miracle that he is
    His smile
    Completing the face
    Of the future she hopes
Will convert away from the path taking place
That we all have tripped down on
Giving away to a new light
For the little ones you hold dear
    Imagine a place where
They don’t have to fear the world around them
    Happily living there lives,
Walking down the street worrying not
If they would make it home alive and well
She is saddened when it is his time to leave
    But she knows
That the light that shines within herself
    Is in her little boy,
Who will also teach and love
    Others
Venture out into the world with the highest of hopes
    Let’s please not break
the only trust we might have
    For a renewed day
Give love to the ones around you
Help guide them in the right direction
Because true love is not a thing you are created from
And it is certainly not something you can seize with grubby paws
It’s the way you treat others
The respect you have for them
    And their morals
    Forgiving and forgetting
The misdoings you receive from them
    The past is the past
There is no reason to feel poignant
Of something that is out of your hands
    Just love
    All you need is love
