• My Artistic life

My life has been surrounded by the beauty of art. My love of art has been influenced by my wonderful grandmother, who was an amazing mixed-media artist. We often painted and drew together when I was young. She always gave me a painting on my birthday when she was well. I never fully appreciated this as a child. I appreciate it now that I’m older, and since her passing I treasure those paintings even more. She inspired me to be unique in life and in my art. As an artist, it brings me joy and pleasure to draw something beautiful, to create art that is inspiring. Even though my grandmother isn’t alive anymore, I still create art with her. I always wear her smock or use her paint brushes when I paint, just so I know that she’s with me. At times, I feel like she’s right next to me, which gives me comfort when I become frustrated and want to give up on a piece of art. Feeling my grandmother’s presence is what keeps me going and motivated. Art is what I enjoy; it’s my passion. Mixed media is one of my favorite creative outlets, especially animation and drawing anime. It’s what I do best, and I believe it’s the gateway to my future. I’ve taken many numerous courses in the Young People’s Program at MICA. One of my favorites was an animation class which helped me to be familiarized with the work I want to go into in my future. I’ve also taken painting and a modeling class. I’m very grateful to have been able to be exposed to art classes throughout my life, because they have helped me to improve my skills, to capture a picture in the moment, and to improve my way of seeing proportions. Anime is a big part of my life because it has expanded my imagination. I am currently the leader of the anime club at my school, and have been involved in it since my Freshman year.

Being able to make something from imagination or from a new perspective, as well as the idea of being able to create something with my hands, fills me with ecstasy. Art is my life, my soul, and my passion. It has shaped me to be who I am, to be able to express myself in a way I feel comfortable. It is like being in a realm I never want to leave. Art is the air that I breathe. Art can bring people together, and I want my art to leave a mark on the world. I want to make this world a better place with every brushstroke.
