• I remeber that day like it was yesterday. I remember how a perfectly sunny day changed into a downpour, I remember how we were having so much fun walking the coast, then I couldn't find you, I remember the salt water feeling good on a hot afternoon, I also remember that salt water choking me. I remember the last words you said to me, I will not give up even when I have lost, those words still hold true to this very moment. I remember your sister crying, and your brother not giving up his search for you, he looked for three days, only stopping for small crumbs of food to keep him going. I remember that day like it was yesterday.

It was a hot day, so we decided to go to the beach, we walked the coast for hours, the feeling of the water on our feet felt so good. We never planned to swim, but we couldn't help it. We went to a rock and dove into the water, the salt stung our eyes. We swam for a while, splashing each other, seeing who could stay under water the longest. Then I remember the sun disapearing and the rain starting. We started towards shore but we were to far out, the current consumed us. We swam against it for what seemed like days, barely keeping our heads above water. Then the waves came in, drowning us. When we could see the pattern and stay above water I tried to find you but you were gone. I went under water to look but the water was black. I used every last bit of strenght I had to make it to a rock. Luckily a man saw me waving and got lifeguards, and I was returned to shore. I kept screaming, she's still back there, we have to find her, but nobody listened. Thats when your brother noticed me, he was a life guard too. I kept screaming at him, your sister your sister! And he just stared at me. Then he caught on, he got on a small boat and started looking for you, he didn't stop for three days, your parents, your sister, every life guard on the beach, even I kept looking. The police finally made us stop, saying it's too late, it's been days. We all left, we had no choice. Before we drove away I looked back and I saw you. I pushed open my door screaming she's alive, she's alive!! Nobody would believe me, but to make me feel better the police went and checked. They found your body, and came to a conclusion you had just finally died minutes ago. I don't know how you survied so long, they tried to wake you up, and it worked for a few hours. I stayed with you in the hospital. And at one point you looked up at me, and said, Carol, this is it. I know it, I am about to die I can feel it. I looked at you and said, no, but inside I knew you were, we didn't know anyone named Carol either. You looked up one last time and said this. Never give up even when you have lost, I know I won't even when I'm dead, I will stay with you. I promise. I will never give up, not even when I've lost. You fell asleep, and soon you were gone. I remember this like it was yesterday, because You died yesterday, I will love you until you give up.
