• We smile everyday, whether or not we realize it. We smile for our photos. We smile when trying to assure someone that we have the "right" idea. We smile when we are asked "How are you today?" and when we lie "Fine, you?". We see smiles when they lie back to us. When the Politician tells us what we need and why we need him. When the doctors look at the kid who is about to be diagnosed with cancer and take the parents into the hall. When the mad man walks into his school before he ends the lives of all that did him wrong. When your daughter says that her day at school was fine even though she had rocks thrown at her and boys trying to molest her.

We see these smiles all the time.
These smiles are here to protect those we love from the truth that they all ready know. We smile so we can pretend to be sane. To be normal. We smile because, sometimes, it's all we have left.
And then, there's people who stop smiling lies. People like me who only smile when it's the truth. Who only smile when we have our power back. Our power to speak. To think. To be happy, even when our happiness is imagining the destruction of the very thing that made us who we are.

I am Black Bird and, right now, your smile disgusts me.
