• In a time, long ago in Middle Earth, there was a land called Alandis. It was a place of great beauty and splendor, split between two inhabitants, the dwarves and elves. It was no doubt a land filled with ethereal magic.

The moors were lush, filled with orchards of apples, oranges, and other sweet delights. The earth was full and rich, growing all assortments of wildflowers and leafy greens. The sun shone so brilliantly, casting its rays and capturing the reflection of dew. Large runes and stones told of the ancient dwarf stories, intertwined with ivy and heritage. The elves were proud of Alandis, although begrudged to share it with the dwarves. They tended and kept beautiful, lush gardens. Overflowing with roses, tulips, ferns, hydrangeas, and wildflowers. The forests were evergreen, almost as evergreen as Mirkwood, but less foreboding. Canopies of trees and foliage provided shelter forb the elves talans (homes). Gurgling brook and streams were overflowing, pure and pristine. The elves and dwarves preferred bathing in the moonlight under a cascading waterfall. Or sometimes a natural steam pool, which was quite pleasant as flower trees grace their present and shed flowers all around. Oh and the feasts they would have! Having feasts outside was a favorite. Each person would contribute a tasty dish or platter. Lots of dancing would occur, often lasting until midnight. Truly Alandis was a paradise.
Milissandi loved her home, many a day she spent traipsing, reading books under a tree, or in her favorite nook. But she longed for more. She was a rare thing, half-dwarf, half-elf. Some said she had some of her great-great-great uncle Bilbo's blood in her veins. Tales of Bilbo and his nephew Frodo reached far and wide. many heard tales of their bravery since they were wee babes. She did not get along well with other girls, they accepted her as a Halfling, but she was too adventurous for their demure, shy taste. Milissandi loved swordplay, and longed to be trained to become a great warrior. Her only friend, in secret, for dwarves kept their distance from elves, was a dwarf named Knocturn. He was a round jolly fellow, but trustworthy and a good friend.
