• Anna climbed out her window, onto the roof top that covered the porch as she did every clear summer night. She caught herself thinking, wishing she could find a way out. You see this house was not a home. There were stars above her head with a few misty looking clouds, but miles away there was a storm passing by. It was not headed her way, but God it was beautiful. The cotton looking clouds lit up with every flash of lightning, it was heavenly. Almost like something only described in a fairy tale. She turned her head to the sky, and mapped out the star constellations. Orion. Aries. Delphinus. Pyxis. Among them, the planet Venus shone like the brightest star in the sky. Outer space, so violent, so beautiful, so free. If only she could experience the freedom the stars do. As she watched the passing storm, something broke her concentration. A soft singing. a girl who looked to be around the age of no more than 15 walked barefoot slowly down the street. the girl had a rare tone of voice, something one can't quite describe, it was haunting, yet beautiful. She wore a long skirt, that had enough flare to sway in the wind. She wore a long scarf that covered her shoulders. She had a headband in her long, thick almost white hair that was half way down her back. she carried a glass lantern with a candle inside, illuminating the bangle bracelets on her wrist. She stopped in front of Anna's house, staring at Anna on the roof top, and motioned her hand for her to come over. Anna hesitated for a moment, but leaned over and climbed down the tree near the side of the porch. She approach the girl, who then held the lantern up to her face. Her large, green eyes glowed with the light, they were almost a cat like color. Anna started to get a strange feeling, she started to feel more calm, unlike when she approached the girl. "Is there something you want to tell me?" she asked.
The girl didn't answer. Instead, she held up the lantern, and the flame inside started to glow a purple color. She opened the glass door and sparks flew out and spiraled into the hair like pixies. A misty cloud formed around the both of them, that shimmered as though very fine glitter had been sprinkled into the air. Anna found herself in a world where galaxies were visible from the ground, where planets like Saturn illuminated from the distance. She strange girl who never spoke looked Anna in the eye and softly smiled before walking away and disappearing into the air. Anna then woke up in her bed, wondering if it were a dream. As she climbed out of her bed, a glass lantern, the one the strange girl had sat on her desk. She then realized, it wasn't a dream, rather, the ghostly girl had led her to a vision of freedom... leaving behind a sign, proof that someday, she shall be free.
