• My Silent Dreams
    Chapter One

I woke up early, on the first crisp and cold monday after winter break. Stretching, I get up out of bed as slowly as I can, dreading the day ahead. As I'm getting ready and having flashbacks of the dream from the previous night, my 14 year old brother, Travis, walks in. Him and I have been close for years, and he and I share everything.
"Morning, Carter," he says lazily, "Can I borrow your phone for a sec?"
"Why? Did you break yours again?" I toss my phone at him lightly. He can no longer have one since he broke his skateboarding only about a dozen times.
    "Thanks"
"What do you need it for now?" I questioned him suspiciously.
He looked up from my phone, looking a little embarassed, whispering, "I have a...uh..new girlfriend." He blushes and I smile at him, going over, throwing my arms around him and hugging him tightly.
He was never a social butterfly with everyone like me. Well...to edit that statement, I am actually a social butterfly with everyone but the guy I like, Kenny. Now for me, finding a guy isn't easy like finding a gas station. I am six feet tall, and not many guys have had their growth spurts yet, let alone being tall enough anyways.
In a quick moment, I hear my phone ring in Travis's hands. I immediatly look at it, just as Travis looks up and says, "It's Kenny".
As I hear his name, Travis comes over to me whispering, "Calm down, it's okay, he probably just is saying hi." I look at Travis, eyes still wide with fear of the worst. He hands me my phone, watching my hands shake while I slowly move over to my bed and sit down. I slowly unlock my phone and read the text.
"Hey Carter, we should really talk. I have a few things I need to say and ask you. See you later. Thanks, Kenny."
I hesitate for a moment before looking at Travis, as he had read the text over my shoulder. He looks back at me with the same excitement, smiling at me, trying to assure me that this is a good thing.

My mind is spinning in a million different directions while I drop Travis off at school and head to my school. When I arrive at school, I head directly to my locker, doing the exact opposite of what Travis told me to do. He said "go find Kenny and see what's up", but instead, I'm walking straight to my locker then class. But to my unfortunate timing, I completely forgot that Kenny and I have to pass each other in the halls before first hour. And I just so happen to be passing him. Hoping to unnoticably pass him, I put my head down and hustle past him.
Feeling a hand on my arm, I turn around to find those bright blue eyes that always make me melt staring right back at me.
Stuttering a bit, I am finally able to speak, "Oh, hey Kenny."
Kenny looks with at me with his dazzling smile. He pulls me towards the lockers to get out of the crowd and rush of students stumbling to get to class on time. I look up at him, waiting, anticipating what runs through his mind.
"Soo, you got my text right?" he questioned.
    I nod, whispering, "Yea."
"Cool," he sighs, sounding almost relieved, "because I was hoping I could take you out to today. You know, maybe get something to eat."
I smile more now that I am getting the message that the talking is a good thing, "Okay, sounds great," gaining a little more confidence, I say, "I will drive, meet me in the parking lot as soon as you get out of class."
He nods and smiles, turning to run off to class before he is late. I do the same, rushing off to A.P. English.

I sit down next to my absolute best friend ever, Amanda. Her and I met freshmen year, and we just started talking and suddenly became best friends, doing everything together.
She looks at me, noticing the huge smile on my face.
Leaning over to me, she starts teasing, almost as if she already knows what has happened, "Ooohhhh," she winks at me, "Sooo what happened this morning that has made you so fricking happy? Haha, did Travis finally get a new phone so he wouldn't have to use yours?"
"Yea right, like that will ever happen. He won't be getting a new phone till he can pay for it himself."
"Hahahaha of course. So seriously, what happened?" She smiles, as she has been involved in everything in my life for the past 3 years.
"Well, Kenny texted me this morning..."
The teacher interupted me, trying to begin class. So I pull out a piece of paper and start jotting down every elite detail, since she hates missing out on anything. I secretly slip her the paper and she begins reading. About five minutes later, she looks at me and gives me a small thumbs up before the teacher turned around. She scribbles down her response and slides the paper back to me.
"OMG I am soooo jealous!!! You have to tell me EVERY detail when you get back"
I give her a look as if to tell her DUHHH.
