• Day by day. I watch all those love stories, read all these love novels. I became so entranced by the whole 'love' thing that I realized, it was never going to happen to me.

Hi, I'm Lucy. I'm a hopeless romantic who has never had a love life. All I know about romance comes from movies, manga and books. Pretty lame huh? Well i live day to day doing chores for my mother so I have no time to even think of a boyfriend. I spend my free time at the grocery store getting ingredients to make pastries and cakes. It's a bad hobby. I work out a lot and more often than not i'm forced to be a wingman. I'm told by all my friends that I'm beautiful, but it's hard to believe when so many guys just give up on you after a few conversations. Or worse they get angry for no reason and break your heart. I've been talking to this guy lately and it seemed he liked me but he was one of those guys that got angry for no reason and hurt me in the end. Like always I went to the grocery store. I was picking out a flavor of cake to bake when suddenly I felt a hot tear stream down my cheek. I laughed, how pathetic. I should have been used to this already. It's happened so many times and I'm so tired of it. I accept the fact that I will never find love. "are you alright?" a guys voice asked. I looked up and a cute boy stood next to me. He wore the stores uniform. "oh, I'm sorry. I'm probably making you lose customers. I'll just go." I apologized. The boy stopped me. "if you wouldn't mind, you could tell me what happened. I'm on break. I'll take you to the break room and I can listen." he offered. I tilted my head to the side in confusion. How could someone be so nice?i felt a little happier knowing there was still nice people."your so kind." I giggled, as I wiped the tears from my eyes. He smiled warmly and guided me back to the staff room. It was empty and very plain. He pulled a plastic chair out and motioned for me to take a seat. I sat down and he pushed in my chair. He walked over to a big bulky machine and took out a cardboard cup from the cabinet. He put it under the machine and something filled it. He handed me the cup and I looked down and felt the calming aroma of hot chocolate fill my nose. "so, what happened?" he asked as he took a seat next to me. I let down my walls and I told him everything. By the end of the story I could feel tears streaming down my face. I felt so ugly, why was i crying? Because it hurt that I've been rejected so many times? Or the ways I've been rejected? Anyway, It was so embarrassing. But the boy surprisingly hugged me and I felt so safe and warm. My tears stopped when he stroked my hair and spoke in a calming voice " your going after all the wrong guys." he cooed. He let me go and wiped the tears away. His touch was so gentle and warm. "I'm Lucy." I said letting the corners of my mouth tilt up a bit. "I'm Jake." he smiled brightly. His smile was contagious. That was when I really took in his features. Light blonde hair, beautiful blue eyes, sun kissed skin, such sharp facial features, he had a muscular build. How he looked and how he acted were completely different. "your really a good person. Thank you for comforting me." I said with a smile. He blushed and looked away. "actually, there's something I need to say." he blurted out. I gave a confused look but nodded. "okay, I'll listen." I said and watched him for any indication of what he might say next. But I couldn't crack him. "you come to the store everyday, and I began to notice you. When you were sifting through all of your ingredients so carefully. How happy you were when you figured something out. How When you couldn't find something you wouldn't ask but stumble around looking for it and the expressions you gave when you found it. Your clumsiness. I started to like you, your smile, your bad habits, everything. So, when I saw you crying I couldn't help but feel horrible. When you explained everything to me I felt angry. But at the same time relieved, that you weren't taken. So, Lucy would you like to go on a date with me tomorrow?" he rambled. I blushed insanely, I was so shocked, after all this time, all this heartbreak and this sweet, caring, devoted beautiful guy asks me out on a date. "I'd like that." I said quietly. He looked like he was over the moon. "see you then, breaks over I gotta go." he said with such happiness in his voice as he left, almost flying down the hall. I giggled. It felt so unreal, so much like a dream it was scary, because I didn't want to wake up. I walked back home and went to bed. The next day I made sure I looked my best. I French braided my bangs and various parts of hair back and into a side bun. Then I threw on some black leggings, a short tight black skirt and camisole. Then a light pink cardigan, I added a thin black belt around my waist and some black heeled booties. I looked in the mirror and made sure everything looked right. I was all good. I opened my door and walked downstairs. "going to the grocery store. I'll be back later tonight!" I called back to whomever was listening as I walked through the front door. I shut the door behind me. Then i walked to the grocery store as the cold wind hit my cheeks. It was getting colder and fall was ending. I reached the grocery store and walked inside. I saw Jake right away, then noticed all the girls in the store drooling over him. He was out of his uniform and in a pair of dark jeans and a leather jacket. He walked up to me and whistled. "someone looks really good." he complimented as he looked at me. I liked how he looked at my eyes before looking at me entirely. I blushed. "you look really cool. " I said and twiddled my thumbs. I looked up to see he was as red as I was. He reached for my hand and I let him take it. He shivered when he touched my icy fingers. He took my hand to his lips and kissed it. Where his lips touched turned hot and I felt the same sensation fill my cheeks. He rubbed my hands until they were warm. "it's pretty cold, huh?" he said as he led me out of the store. I nodded and tightened my fingers around his. I could see him smiling from the corner of my eye. He took me into a small shop and sat down by a table in the corner. A small old lady waddled on over. "jake! What a lovely surprise, this must be the young lady you always blab about. Things worked out didn't they? Oh, my is she pretty." the old woman laughed. Jake blushed and got all flustered. "Maggy!" he groaned. The old lady waddled away and I laughed. " it's not funny.." he pouted as he put his head on the table. I slid my hand across the table and petted his head. He flinched upon my touch but relaxed when he realized it was me. He lifted his head back up with the same flustered look. " I wouldn't do that if I were you, it's pretty dangerous." he said as he lifted his hand to my cheek. His large warm hand cupped onto my cheek and his fingers messed around gently with my hair. He drew in closer across the table, that seemed so short now. "I don't know what I'll do." he whispered as he was only a centimeter away from my lips. He drew back as Maggy waddled over to our table again. Maggy smirked at my red face and I noticed that jake seemed indifferent and cheerful. He affected me so much but it didn't phase him a bit. Was he teasing me? I could feel myself get a little angry. I crossed my legs and looked at the table as Maggy left. A plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies sat in between us. " you usually buy the ingredients for this often, so I thought these were your favorite." jake said. 'Damn, he's good.' I thought as I took a cookie from the plate. I took a bite and smiled. "it's really good!" I gushed after finishing my first cookie. Jake laughed. "they have a secret ingredient, they're a secret specialty." he explained. I nodded and took another. Jake and I ate the plate of cookies and left the store. I shivered after a few minutes of walking down the main street. Jake led me to a small path in the woods and to a camping ground. He started a small fire and placed his coat over me.he rubbed his hands up and down my arms to generate some heat. Perfect opportunity to get him back. I wrapped the other side of his jacket around him. I leaned up and kissed his cheek. His face turned a bright red and he was at a loss for words. I giggled and held his hands. I placed the coat back on him and he found a large log to sit on. He sat down and I sat in between his legs, my back to his chest and his arms around my waist. His head rested on mine and the small fire glowed in front of us. "your really something. I warned you earlier...." he mumbled before pulling me backwards. We fell into a pile of leaves and I Somehow ended up beside him. The bed of leaves was thick and comfortable, I turned to the side to see jake. He got on top of me with a smirk. "what are you-" I began but was cut off by his lips connecting to mine. His lips felt hot and every trace of the cold was erased from my body. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he kissed me more and more. He realized what he was doing and sat up. "I'm sorry. I got carried away." he apologized. I smiled. "no, I liked it." I mumbled with a slight blush. Jakes face turned red and he held me lovingly in his arms. He helped me to my feet and we walked back to the main street. We wanted to build trust in each other so we played the wall game. We sat holding hands on opposite sides of a corner. If someone looked around the corner to see if the other was talking to another guy or girl they lost. I sat there looking straight ahead, his fingers tightly in mine. "hey cutie, you wanna play with us?" said a few guys as they walked up to me. I could feel jakes grip loosen. "no, I'm with my boyfriend." I replied. The boys laughed. "were is he? He obviously doesn't wanna be seen in public with a girl like you. Ugly b***h." the boy spat.he looked so content tearing me down. Jakes hand released from mine and I felt like I was going to cry. I looked at my knees to calm myself. Then I heard a smack and looked up. Jake shoved the boy against the wall aggressively. His eyes full of anger, so sharp and menacing. "what did you say?" he asked in a low voice. It sent chills down my spine. The boy shook in fear. "your insane man." he said his voice all wobbly. I grabbed onto Jakes jacket. I didn't have anything to say just tears on the brink of falling. Jakes eyes softened and he released the boy. The boy and his group ran away. Jake cupped my face in his hands and kissed away my tears. "your not an ugly b***h. I think your beautiful and have a warm heart." He wrapped his arms gently around me and we let all the people flow by in the streets. "dammit, why are you making me fall for you?" I thought. Then I realized I said it out loud and blushed. I began to walk away when jake grabbed my hand. "really?" he asked. I turned around to see a look of disbelief on his face. I blushed intensely. "I take it back!" I said in frustration. I tried to set myself free but my body went limp in his grasp. He pulled me into him. "if you fall, I'll catch you." he said as he tilted my chin up. He looked into my eyes and I knew he wasn't lying. He kissed me and i let the kiss be deep and romantic. "I love you." he whispered,Then kissed my forehead. I loved him too
