• A gut-retching scream left my lips as he stroked the double-bladed knife against my skin. My breath was visible in the cool, winter's night air. The moon lit up my skin like it did on the reflection on the water. My breathing had drastically decreased yet my heart felt like it was about to leap straight out of my chest. Desperately, I tried to tell him to stop but no words escaped my throat. He was going to kill me. "I always loved you, Calliope. I gave you everything" his heartbeat quickened against my skin as he lifted the knife to my throat "why didn't you return that feeing?". Blood started to trickle down my neck and a sharp pain arose where the knife was slicing through my skin. "I'm sorry" he said and my heart-rate plummeted, sending me into a familiar cycle in which I'm reborn.
