• We crawled through the vents, the sound of people screaming dying down. Most likely since most of them were already dead by now. Still, most of my worry was on Renn. If we encountered any undead in the vents, she would be the first to go. Even though no one else could possibly get in the air vents, I still worried. Fortunetly, lady luck seemed to be on our side and Renn didn't encounter any zombies. After we got to the end of the vent that led to outside, I crawled past everyone to get to the front. As I did before, I used the sheath of my sword to open the air vent. I jumped out with my sword out as everyone quickly followed after me. "The school buses are over there." I said. They all quickly crawled out of the vent and we made our way to the bus. There weren't many dead around yet, so it was easy getting to the bus. We all raced onto the bus and Renn immediatly shut the door and floored it. Renn made a sharp turn and I almost fell back but Sasuke caught me by the waist with one hand and the other was hanging onto a near by chair. "Amaya! The gate is closed!" Renn yelled, but still speeding toward it. "Keep going!" I yelled back, and we crashed through the gates and sped down the twisting road away from school. I pulled away from Sasuke and sat down on the window seat, Sasuke came and sat next to me. Akira sat at the window seat in the first row across from us and Jun sat next to her. Chiyo sat in the second row behind Sasuke. Renn started to lessen on the peddle a bit and we slightly slowed down enough to see everything that was going passed. The view was of the town and huge clouds of smoke rising from the city from random fires around town. The infection has already reached town, and who knows where else. I shivered, quickly controlled it, but not before Sasuke noticed, and placed a comforting arm around me. "What now?" Jun asked, we all turned to look at him, except Renn who had to keep her eyes on the road. "What do you mean?" Chiyo asked. "Where do we go? Do we try to find our families first, try to save people who are still alive. or what?" he asked. "I say we go look for our families." Sasuke said. "Me too. I want to make sure my mom and dad are alright." Jun agreed. "Renn is my only family, but I think going out to find your loved ones is the way we should go." I commented. Chiyo nodded "So, it's settled than!" she said cheerfuly. Akira sighed "Alright, who's house is closest?" she asked. "Mine is." Jun said. Akira nodded "Than we'll head there first. Renn, why are we stopping?" Renn had quickly stepped on the brakes and wasn't moving "Too much traffic." Renn answered. We all went closer to the front of the bus and saw cars all stuck in traffic like we were. The police were all outside, shooting any undead that came near. "How are we going to get out of the city like this???" I mumbled. "Either we wait or get out and try to find another way." Akira said matter-of-factly. "I think it would be faster if we got out and tried to cross the river that way." Chiyo said. "But how many brigdes do you think the police have blocked by now?" Akira pointed out. "True, but, it'll take a lot longer waiting here to cross the brigde." Chiyo said. Akira nodded "We should take a vote." Akira said. We all voted to leave the bus behind, and that's exactly what we did. Little did I know how much I would regret that desicion.
