• ((Okay, we're switching point of view! Instead of Alyss', it's now a new character's!))

I squinted at the bright light. The number above the tunnel said twelve, and I needed twelve but it wasn't familia. Something was wrong. I could feel it in my blood. The woman in line behind me tapped her foot. Her clothing rustled as she fidgeted, waiting for me to step into the light. I sighed. Couldn't do it. It didn't feel right. This wasn't the twelve I knew. Not the tunnel to Crystal City. I stepped out of line. A shared sigh of relief took over the line, and the woman muttered "Finally," and stepped into the bright white light. I looked over the building one more time. Large and dome-shaped, the walls where chrome instead of the beautiful crystal I was used to. Everything was silver and shiny, to the circular Help Booth in the center to the lights that lined the walls. It was the same Trade and Travel Center I had used since I was little.
I stalked over to the shiny Help Booth. The first open window was staffed by a young woman that reminded me of Nurse, back in Crystal City. "Hi! My name's Bunnie. How may I help you today?" She said in a cheeriness what was way too bright to be real. "Where does the number twelve tunnel lead?" I growled, furious at her obliviousness. The idiot was nothing like Nurse. "Well, it leads to Crystal City, of course." she said smiling and faking that she didn't think that I was an idiot. I sighd and walked away.
Despite my instincts screaming for me to go another way, find another route to Crystal City, I ignored them. This was the only way from Seraph to Crystal City, and everyone knew that. Even the idiotic pink-haired ditz that manned the booth I was at.
Once I was in the tunnel, I did what I always did. Grabbing my bag, I took out the dagger hidden in by boot and stuffed it in the bag. There was no need for protection in Crystal City. It was a haven, and no one would ever dare change that. Queen Daly had made damn sure of that.
As I stupped out of the tunnel, I did a double take. The City was ransacked, and all of the once-sparkling buildings were dim and broken. The sky was full of storm clouds, and the palace before me was simply in shambles. My heart broke.
    "What have you done...?"
