• The school had sent Eva home. The faculty may have been cold to her but they took death threats very seriously. They had had her call her mother but she hadn’t been home so the police officer who had been called took her home.

Eva walked into the living room. She let her back pack fall to the floor. She sat down on the couch and brought her legs up to her chest. She set her head on her knees. So Lila had been going to hurt her if she had stayed in school. Maybe the school should have let her. Maybe the world would be better off with her dead.

She heard someone crying. She looked around the room and saw the little girl with the flame red hair standing at the other end of the couch. She was crying and hugging her self.

“Go away;” Eva screamed at her, “you’re not real! You’re just a figment of my imagination!” She buried her face into her knees. She started to sob uncontrollable. After some time her sobs slowed and stopped as she slipped into sleep.

The little girl walked up to Eva. She was crying as she tried to comfort Eva. But as she touched Eva she faded away.

Eva awoke to someone shaking her violently. “Eva! Eva what are you doing home?”

Eva shook her head. She looked up into the angry face of her mother. “Mother,” she shook herself to wake up fully. “What time is it?”

Her mother stood up, “Eva why aren’t you in school?” Her mother didn’t give her time to finishes answering. She slapped Eva across the face. The blow was so hard that Eva was stunned for a second or two.

“Don’t talk back to me!” Her mother screamed and slapped Eva across the face again. “You where skipping school again weren’t you?” her ask as she was slapping Eva again and again.

Eva brought up her arms to fend off some of the blows. “No…I was sent…home from school. Mother please stop this I didn’t do anything wrong!” Eva cried as her mother started to hit her.

Her mother kicked harder at each of Eva’s pleas. “I thought I told you not to talk back. You ungrateful little b***h I will show you!” her mother grab and pulled Eva up by her hair and then threw her down on the floor and started to kick and stomp Eva.

The beating went on for about an hour. During the whole beating Eva’s mother was screaming, “It’s all your fault! You should have died not him! You killed your own father!” Her mother stomped her, kicked her, slapped her, and screamed at her. Eva never fought back and barely defended herself because she was in total shock.

After the beating Eva’s mother went up stairs. After she knew her mother wasn’t coming back Eva pulled herself up. She was cover in blood and bruise. And she couldn’t see clearly. She stood up and staggered into the bath room. She looked at herself in the mirror she was a mess. She sat down on the toilet and thought about what her mother had said. Could she have killed her father?

Her mind was too clouded to figure this out. And she didn’t want to. She just couldn’t take this life any more. There was only one answer. She started a bath and got a sheet of paper and a pen.
