• Chapter 1: Senior Year

    Bzzzt. Bzzzt. Bzzzt.

"Ugh." I groaned as I rolled over and turned off my alarm clock with a considerably well aimed swipe. I blinked rapidly, remaining sunken into my warm, inviting bed. Sleep cleared, leaving me all too awake. I sighed as I threw off my warm blankets, shivering as the cold air attacked my bare legs. I hummed along to my song on the radio as I picked out a cute outfit to show off my new body. It had been an unusually cold summer for Arizona, perfect for working off all my pudge and gaining a sun tan. I grinned as I stole the bathroom, causing my sister to stomp her foot.

Carefully, I turned on the shower, adjusting it to my perfect temprature. That having been accomplished, I ran a brush through my hair, untangling knots. My hair swung gently over my lower back, almost seeming to encourage speediness. I sighed and hurried throught my shower. I reluctantly left the tantalizing warmth of the shower, wrapping a towel around my prickling skin. I turned on the fan and cracked the door, letting cool air replace the steam.

Once I was nice and dry, I picked up my cute new dress, feeling it brush sweetly across my skin. It slid on like melted chocolate down your throat and settled perfectly into place, accenting all my curves. The ivory color of the dress made my skin seem even darker. I made a silly face in the mirror as I washed my face, cleaned my nose piercing, and popped in my contacts. I looked nice, but nice wasn't good enough. I knew I needed to blow dry my hair. I hated using the blow dryer but I wanted to look amazing for my first day back to school, even more so considering it was the first day of Senior year.

Deftly, I weaved my hair into a braid. I popped in a pair of cute hoops and brushed on a little bronzing powder, eyeliner, and mascara. Now I looked GOOD. Between my now long hair, my green blue eyes, my curvacious yet muscular body, and my beautiful ivory dress, I looked ready to face the world.

Two knocks on the door interrupted my reverie. "Hurry up or I'll miss the bus!" My sister yelled angrily.

"Almost ready." I hurried into my room, grabbing my backpack and cell phone as well as my cute new heels.

"Get out here!" Her shout was insistent and loud. I ran into the living room.

"Knock it off. I'm right here. Where's Zeph, Mare, and Jeann?" My mind went into overdrive as I thought of Zeph. I'd known him since Sophmore year, yet I still hadn't told him how I felt. I was still trying to gather the courage.

"Right here Lena." The three devils walked in the door and grinned at me. Marilynn grinned even wider at my outfit. Her short, dyed hair was spiked and she wore lightning bolts in her ears. She was still wearing her usual black skinny's with her hand crocheted vest. I gave her a quick grin and trained my eyes on Zeph.

His dark hair fell in a cute sprawling manner over his forehead. Underneath his thick eyebrows were his soul revealing eyes. Moss green and oddly wide for a man, they were the windows to his beautiful soul. His aquiline nose was dead center in his face and positioned just above his amazing lips. Arched with a perfect cupid's bow, his lips were quick to turn up and reveal his perfect teeth. His smiles always made me feel warm. I forced my eyes down, taking in his Affliction tee and his favorite jeans coupled with his motorcycle boots. Dead sexy as usual. I pulled my eyes away from him and motioned for everyone to head for my car.

On our concrete pad sat my pride and joy. A black mustang, streamlined and in perfect condition. I'd gotten her at the beginning of summer and had spent countless days working on her, with the help of Zeph and Marilynn. They piled in and I started her, barely containing my moan as she roared to life. Jeann and Shi, my sister, struck up a conversation. Mare turned up her music in the backseat next to them. In the front seat beside me, Zeph turned up the radio. We dropped Jeann and Shi off at the bus stop, then high-tailed it onto the freeway.

"Mare!" I half-shouted her name to catch her wandering attention.

    "Eh?"

"They're gone. No more music. Got it?"

"Yeah yeah." She grinned at the same time, and I heard the sound of her putting her iPod away. "We getting Starbucks?"

"He** yeah! I needs me a hot apple cider."

"Still won't drink coffee I see." Zeph was staring out the window, yet when I glared at him quickly, I could see the crease in his cheek.

"No I will not. The stuff is bitter and nasty. Now Zeph, just because you said that, you get to treat Mare and I to Starbucks."

"That's supposed to be a punishment?" I almost couldn't hear his soft murmer over the sound of the radio.
