• An Eventual Happy Ending
Today started like any other day. It was just another day in school. Like always, Akiza sat right next to me and we talked like we normally do. Today was the same, yet at the same time different. Today was Christmas Eve, even if we did have school this year.
“Haha! I can’t believe we have school this year! Although we do get out of school a whole two weeks early. What are you doing for Christmas this year, Tsubasa?” inquired Akiza.
Now, let me back up a little. My name is Tsubasa, if you haven’t already guessed. I am a second year in Domino High as well as Akiza’s best friend. I’m about 5’6” and have black hair that comes down to my shoulders. Also, believe it or not, I’m a guy. I’m always getting told by my mom how “cute” I look. It doesn’t really help that everyone else thinks so as well. As for Akiza, she’s the best friend anyone could have. She’s really kind and usually really cheerful. She’s got long black hair that goes past her knees and she usually has a braid to one side of her hair tied up by a red and black plaid bow that matches her uniform. Today it was on her left. The girls’ uniform has a lot of red and black but the boys’ is just plain white. It’s just a white blazer you put over a white shirt and you walk around with black slacks on since the administrators think we can’t keep white pants clean and free of holes. Akiza always wears the red and black plaid skirt with the white blouse and the red and black plaid cape that only the student council wears. Not that I particularly care or anything, I just happened to notice.
“Oi, Tsubasa! When are you guys ever gonna get it!?” shouted a very annoying classmate of mine from the desks in the front. Since he was considered a student to watch for talking by the teachers, he sits in the front.
“I can’t believe either of you have noticed yet!”
Oh, I forgot to mention. Despite the fact that Akiza and I were friends since kindergarten, and everyone knows it, we still get teased around them. I don’ wuite get it though. There’s nothing special about us at all. Now, back to the story…
“Any way,” I said this while turning to face Akiza directly, “my parents are having another Christmas Party this year and I was wondering if you….”
    *ring* *ring**ring*
“Hold on a minute, okay Tsubasa. Hello? …. Oh…. Okay thank you, bye.”
After she hung up, Akiza stood up abruptly and left the bright and cheery classroom with an air about her that was kind of depressing. I got up to try and stop her, but she started to run and left me behind in the empty hall ways. I walked slowly back into the classroom and sat down next to another annoying classmate, a friend of Akiza’s.
“What do you think was wrong with her?” I asked, hoping to get a good answer out of another girl. I got my answer, but I think I was kind of hoping it wasn’t what I thought it was.
“It was probably her dad again saying he couldn’t make it again this year,” said Akiza’s friend, “I feel bad for her though. Her father’s never home and now that her mom’s gone she must feel left alone.”
Unfortunately, Akiza’s mother had just passed away, and her father is never around to see her. Even at the funeral two months ago, he missed the first part of his own wife’s funeral. Akiza had cried all day so I walked her home and then missed my family reunion to go with her to the funeral. Of course, my mom wasn’t too happy about it.
So, I went through the whole school day like that, just worrying, the whole time, about her and I kept waiting for the bell for the end of class to ring. I hope I didn’t miss any homework. When Mr. Yumichika finally finished his boring lecture about something to do about quantum physics, after all that is the class he teaches, I rushed out the door and ran all the way to my house.
Once I got there I quickly rushed in. I ran in and out in about thirty seconds, only pausing for a moment to mention to my mom that I was bringing a guest to the party. I left before she could approve of the idea or not. I stopped by a flower shop on the way to Akiza’s place. The small, quaint shop was as empty as it usually was, me being the sole customer, and it had a nice charm to it, but I didn’t have time to stop and admire it today. I hurriedly paid for a bouquet of dark red roses. They are Akiza’s favorite, and the petals were actually as dark as an eclipse. I rushed through the crowded holiday streets towards Akiza’s home. It wasn’t much, but you’d think with her father away a lot it would be a lot nicer. It’s just a small apartment with two rooms, a kitchen and a living room/bedroom. Either way, it’s still Akiza’s home.
When I finally reached the door, I rang the door bell at least a half dozen times, nut there was no answer. I couldn’t believe she wasn’t there. She didn’t normally go any where except…. The park! There was a small run down park that wasn’t much to speak of, but since there weren’t many people there, she likes to go there for peace and quiet. I looked towards the forlorn park next to the old Catholic church. It was almost like a miracle. As soon as I turned I saw her, but she was following someone into the glittering church, someone with wings, glorious, shimmering wings. Regular people don’t have that, right? So I ran as fast as I could to the festive looking church only to find the, being talking with Akiza who was sitting in the pews next to him. At least, I think it was a he. At any rate, she looked a little cheered up so I called out to her.
    “Akiza!”
“Someone’s calling you,” said the strange being to Akiza.
Akiza turned with a surprised expression on her face. I ran up to her and asked her all these questions. I hate that stupid, flying thing. First, he interrupts, then he goes and KISSES Akiza!
“Don’t let anyone else steal her, okay, Tsubasa,” said the annoyingly perfect thing.
Of course, I lost my cool then, and probably looked like a complete fool standing there waving my hands in the air like a fool, yelling at him, but I got something out of it. As soon as he disappeared, Akiza came up to me and kissed me out of no where! So, I guess that annoying idiot was useful after all.
