    Chapter 1:Little miss nosey.

Have you ever what people are thinking, what is troubling their life? It's quite a difficult journey through your own mind let alone somebody else’s. To some people it’s a like a book, they just need to know more.
This is a book about a girl who has this amazing power to read people’s minds. She has a one of a kind gift but to her family it just a burden, sometimes she believes it herself. Her name is Payge but to her friends she is “Pongo.” Payge is very possessive of her friends because she has lost so many. Her power causes her pain social wise because she knows what people think about her, all of the horrible things they say behind her back.
She can’t help but wander other people’s minds; she can’t help but be nosey. Hey you would be to if you where a mind reader
Chapter 2: The girl of mystery.
“Payge Whillows has always been a girl of mystery”, Roger Maral always thought, ” her black hair was usually blown into her face by the whispering wind, her pale skin so light she looked like a ghost, her blue nail polish matched her sharp blue eyes you could just feel them cutting into your soul.”Roger’s appearance was completely opposite from Payge’s. Roger had blonde hair always combed back with gel in it, soft brown eyes that could comfort you when you’re sad and tan skin. Roger always liked the term “opposites attract.”
Payge’s best friend is Josh he could always brighten up a room or your day easily, he isn’t the shadow type person he always wore bright clothes. He is always in some kind of trouble weather it would be skipping classes, being disrespectful, or taking his problems out on other people but Payge usually tries to help him out by giving him pillows to punch but it never worked.
Payge, Roger, Josh and Payge’s family only knew about her power. So they all had to be careful of their thoughts except Roger, he didn’t really care what she heard about. He was easy going and not that secretive, but he knew to keep Payge’s gift to himself what it would mean to her if he kept her secret.
    Chapter 3:Late.
“Payge breakfast is ready!” Payge’s mom called out, setting the table for breakfast. Payge woke up late that day so she was frustrated that morning, she hated being rushed. She hurried down stairs to the kitchen nearly dropping her backpack trying to grab a piece of toast and rushed out the door. Payge almost missed the bus, but when she got on the bus her head filled with voices some happy, sad, angry and singing. It almost over powered her but she got out her mp3 player and listened to it before she was driven by madness.
By the time the bus got to school the late bell was ringing but it was okay to her since she saw Josh walking by she knew she’ll be able to catch up to him. “Mrs. Williams is going to kill me!” Bobby was sure of,” I’m going to be late and I was too lazy to do the homework for my classes.” Bobby was the lazy type of person. When Payge finally caught up to Josh she just walked behind him to see what he was thinking so she didn’t make him forget about it. “Hhmm my grandparents are coming up to visit from Texas and my mom wants me to wear something ‘nice’ to dinner”, Josh thought. Josh always thought about his appearance first but “nice” was nothing in his dictionary or “classy” the “nicest” outfit he owned was an old shirt from the seventh grade with a fake tie and bell bottoms his dad gave him from the 70’s. Payge didn’t think it was that important she walked next to him and said, “If you want to want to wear something nice you have to go to wal-mart and buy something classy.” Josh laughed, even though it was an insult, but they can’t help but take each other’s insults funny their best friends.
It was already fifteen minutes into first period but they didn’t really keep track of the time. The janitor walked up to them, “ you kids get to class now,” he scolded “yes sir,” so they went opposite ways to class the last thought Payge heard of Josh’s was “Pongo you’re so crazy.”
    Chapter 4: hero essay.
“Payge why are you late?” Ms.Todd asked while Payge was sneaking into class, “Well are you going to explain yourself or look at me like a deer in headlights?” Payge knew ms.Todd wasn’t that upset with her but it didn’t really take that much thought to say, ”My bus was late” so she just said it. “Okay missy take your seat “ms.Todd said back.
To Payge language arts wasn’t much just reading and writing but she loved it those were her hobbies she is a poet/bookworm. Math up took a bit of time though math was usually a bit difficult she loved things that made her brain work. Ms.Todd is the language arts teacher, her and Payge were cool with each other they’re friends they both have the same interests. Today the class had to write about their hero’s and why they are heroes to them. Payge chose Martin Luther King, Jr. because he believed in peace among all which Payge wish would happen between her and her family, her power just keeps separating more and more each day.
Chapter 5:The worst day so far.
Payge was relieved to hear the last bell of the day ring but wasn’t completely satisfied because she wasn’t home, home is the only place she can have peace in her thoughts ,but she loves her room because that’s where she can drown her thoughts with music or a book.
“Pongo! ”Payge heard from a familiar voice behind her, it was Roger “Hey, what’s up?”
“Nothing much, I just want to go home.”
    “Bad day, huh? ”
    “People think too much.”
I’ll try to stop thinking,” Roger said with a laugh.
“Roger, you have no idea what issues people have in this school so stop joking.”
Sorry I was just trying to make you feel better.”
    I appreciate it”
Payge and Roger where walking in silence to the buses until they came to Josh in a fight, Payge listened to Josh’s thoughts to see what had happened, Josh was pushed into a puddle of water after the rain last night. Payge saw the principal coming with a bad expression on his face. Payge nudged Roger to look behind them and they both pulled Josh away from the fight quickly to the bus loop. Josh started screaming and kicking his way away, “I DON’T CARE IF I GET CAUGHT, THAT IDIOT DESERVES IT!” Payge tried to be as calm as possible, “Josh, you have to control your anger beating people will get you nowhere.” Josh just got angrier, “HE NEEDS TO BE TAUGHT A LESSON!”
“I UNDERSTAND THAT BUT YOU DON’T NEED ANYMORE OF THIS CRAP ON YOUR RECORD!”
“I DON’T NEED YOUR INPUT, PAYGE!”
Payge dropped Josh and Payge started to scream, “YOU DON’T NEED MY INPUT? I HAVE HELPED YOU ALMOST ALL OF YOUR LIFE AND YOU ARE JUST NOW SAYING YOU DON’T NEED MY INPUT OF THE CRAP YOU DO? GO AHEAD THROW YOUR LIFE AWAY BECAUSE SOME STUPID GUY THREW YOU IN A PUDDLE!” Payge stopped to see Josh’s reaction and all she could sense was guilt Payge had never gotten that impatient with Josh before and Josh ran for his bus.
They walked after him and Roger was trying to calm Payge down without getting yelled at.
“Payge he does need you but he was probably just thinking on instinct” ,Roger said in a soft tone.
“But he should’ve known not to say that to me I’ve helped him through every act of violence he tried to commit to but he knows I will always be there for him to bail him out of anything” ,Payge said back trying to stay calm.
“You said all he felt was guilt so that doesn’t mean he intended on saying that”
    “You’re probably right”
They just went home and Payge was calm the rest of the time on the bus until she got home.
    Chapter 6:Home
Payge got home and headed for her room but before she could reach the stairs her brother, Derek walked in front of her,” What’s wrong?”
    “Nothing go away.”
    “And if I don’t?”
Payge balled her fist up and put it in the air and Derek moved from out of her way and she ran to her room and jumped face first into her bed.
Derek is a twelve year old boy that is very curious in everybody’s life and most of the time he is a great disturbance in Payge’s life.
Payge got off of her bed to turn up her music and suddenly music filled her room. Her mom came to her room and told her to turn down that noise, Payge hated it when her parents insulted the music she listens to, but she pretended like she didn’t hear her then her mom intruded and turned down the music herself, ”You didn’t hear me yelling?”
    “Well obviously not.”
“nobody wants to listen to that noise”
“I don’t really care what makes you think I want to listen to your thoughts and stop calling it noise its music it may not be music you like but it is still music!”
Her mom left the room and Payge slammed the door, locked it and put her stereo at full blast, she could barely hear her mom banging on the door. Then Payge remembered that her mom had a key to every room in the house so she sat against the door so she couldn’t get in. she heard a faint voice say “I’m getting the keys!” so she climbed out of her window and climbed down the gutter so she was sure she couldn’t fall, she went into the garage to get her bike and rode off into town.
    Chapter 7: In town
Payge didn’t really like to go into town often because of all the commotion, but she liked it more because there is less stress in town. The thoughts flowed through her brain and thought to herself “people think too much.” Payge liked listening to strangers thoughts but every now and again she came upon dark thoughts she tried to point them out by who was thinking it but they usually where very obvious darkly dressed or an angry expression on their faces.
She kept on walking along rummaging through peoples thoughts, then she sensed a dark thought, and it was getting closer not close enough to read but getting closer, then it started fading. She saw a dark man turn down an alley way, she followed and peered into the alley only to see him reach into his coat and pull out a can of blue spray paint.
He looked around and Payge was not to be spotted by this mysterious man. The design he was painting on the wall looked very similar to the one on the back of his coat, it looked like a small bird with a blue ribbon.
She had seen the design before on the streets, but it was a bird with red ribbon, and another with yellow.
“What is this? Battle of the colors?” the man turned around startled and dropped the paint can. She jumped then came into complete sight of the man walked toward her “who are you?” the man asked. She studered and ran.
