• Jen was only twelve when her tragedy occurred. Her parents had just died and she was about to be put into a foster home when she saw it happen. A man named Perci was stabbing a young woman, not only stabbing her but slashing at her face. Blood was running down the woman’s face and body and had begun to make a puddle on the ground. Jen could barely hear the woman’s pathetic screams for help. Jen shrieked. As soon as she did she realized she shouldn’t have. Perci turned and looked at her with a crazed stare. He dropped the woman and turned to fully face Jen and began to walk towards her. Jen was frozen she didn’t know what to do. As Perci got closer to Jen she began to regret making any noise. Jen looked down at the woman then turned and ran. While she was running she could hear Perci right behind her and all she could think of is the woman that Perci was attacking. Perci began to close in and right before he could grab her, she turned onto a busy street. There was no way he could attack her or even touch her without being caught. Jen was panting and looked up at Perci.

“I will get you if it’s the last thing I do.” Said Perci

Those were the only words Jen heard Perci speak and the only words she needed to hear to know that she was in huge trouble. After hearing those words Jen was frozen in terror as she watched Perci disappear into the shadows of an ally. As soon as Jen found the strength to move she ran as fast as she could to the police station. When she got to the police station she began to attempt to tell about what she had seen but all that came out was fragments of the story.

“I was…and the man….a woman….he chased me….threat” Jen rambled as she tried to tell her story

“Calm down, take a few deep breaths then try again.” Said an officer.

Jess took a couple deep breaths then tried again. This time it all came out clearly.
“I was walking home from the store when I looked down an ally and saw a man. He was holding a woman against the wall and stabbing her and cutting her face.” Jess began to cry as she told her story. “I screamed then he came towards me and I ran.” She was still crying but continued on. “When I got to a safe place he told me he would get me if it was the last thing he did”

When she finished the officer automatically asked her if she remembered where she saw the attack and if she could describe the man. After she told the officer where she saw the attack was and told him she did not feel safe he stayed with her in the station while he ordered other units and an ambulance to head to the location. While at the station the officer asked her to describe the man. Once the officer had all the information on the attacker he began to think of a plan to keep Jen safe.

A call came from the first unit to hit the scene. The call was to confirm the act had been committed. The cop that arrived at the scene only to find a woman cut and stabbed so badly she was not able to be recognized.

After the crime was discovered the police station kept getting anonymous letters threatening Jen’s life and going into detail about how he was going to kill her slowly and painfully. That was when it was decided Jen would live at The Safe House.
