• Chapter 1: Something Forbidden

    Ivy

When the dance ended I felt that I was floating on air. Mason guided me back to his Black Volvo the sound of my clicking heels hitting the pavement echoed through the half empty parking lot. “Ivy” I heard someone yell, I turned to see Tammy running towards me. “Hi Mason” She said smiling, “Do you mind if I take Ivy for a second?”

“No not at all” He said. Before letting go of my hand he whispered in my ear, “I’ll be waiting right here” I smiled and nodded as he let go of my hand. I followed Tammy to where my car was parked.

“What is it Tammy?” I asked itching to turn around and make sure Mason was still there, that this night wasn’t just a dream that Tammy has come to wake me up from.

“Brian you know one of Mason’s friends?” I nodded as she continued. “He asked me out!” Tammy was so exited she was practically bouncing.

“I didn’t even know you liked Brian!” I said mock punching her. “Why didn’t you tell me?!”

“Well I always made fun of how much you liked Mason, who by the way is still staring at you. So I thought you would do the same so I didn’t want to tell you until he noticed me.”

“I’m so happy for you!” I said hugging her tightly.

    “Really?” She asked.

“Of course now go and have fun. You can give the car back tomorrow”

“Thanks Ivy” Tammy said. I nodded as she hopped into the car. I walked back over to Mason, still in the same spot I left him in.

“Ready?” He asked taking my hand in his once more. I nodded and he opened the car door for me. The ride back to my house wasn’t as quiet as the first. We asked questions now knowing we could be ourselves around each other. When we pulled up to my house I saw the lights were on and my mom’s BMW parked in the driveway.

“Would you like to come in?” I asked knowing my Mother would want to meet Mason ASAP since she is never home.

“Sure” He said turning off the car. I smiled maybe my night didn’t have to end.
