• July 26, 2019: The Wedding

    As the 12:00 PM hour arrived, i was already awake and ready to start my day, but the only issue was that i wasn't out of bed and the Wedding was at 3:00 PM. I could already tell that my fiancee was up and had left to get her errands done because normally there would be a warmth between us that was so comfortable that you would want to stay in bed and just sleep the whole day through with. But the only thing i had felt this morning was the other side's sheets folded up to the top and a cold chill from the window that was left open. Instead of covering up with the comforter, i decide to smile and sit up a bit, arching my back and stretching all of my ligaments to make sure my body was up and ready to start the day. Hesitating slightly, but slowly starting to open my eyes, I look around the room and my eyes focus on a small folded piece of paper that has been casually placed on my fiancee's pillowcase. Reaching over with my left hand to grip it gently, i fold back the flap of the letter and glace over the words that were wrote inside of the note;

    To: The Most handsome guy ever

    When you read this you will probably still be sleeping like you usually do, but i just wanted to let you know how happy i am to be marrying the guy of my dreams. Today will be the most exciting and amazing day of our lives and i can see our future be bright and loving. And by the way hun, i agree 100% about what we talked about yesterday. I would be a blessing for us to have kids together because i wouldn't want to grow old with anyone else besides you. Even when we were dating in high school, i could see us with two beautiful children and i know that your going to be a great father even if you have your doubts about yourself. We can even use the names that we both dreamed of for both a guy and a girl. Today is going to be the proudest and happiest days of my life and no doubt i will be in tears of joy for the both of us hun.

    Love, The luckiest girl ever

    Finishing reading the letter, i hold the piece of paper close to my chest and hug it close since even though it might just be a simple piece of paper, it carried emotions through the words written that lungs couldn't voice out. Checking the clock, it reads 12:30 PM and i realize that i have very limited time to get things done. Swinging my legs over the side of the bed and feeling the carpet touch my feet, i stand up and head in the direction of the bathroom to freshen up. Usually i would take a shower first then do the small wake up routine but i wanted to make sure all the small things were done BEFORE i had taken the shower. A long 45 minutes passed and from the bathroom i emerged clean, refreshed, awoken, and ready to start the day. I walk over to my dresser drawer already having a outfit in mind and slipping that exact attire in.

    I soon walk over to my floor mirror and tilt it slightly that way i can see what i look like from top to bottom, enjoying my look and giving a quick smirk at my reflection. Slipping on a pair of socks and my all white shoes, i grab my wallet and car keys from the small net basket on my nightstand and walk back over to my dresser drawer to pick up my tuxedo that i had bought from American Commodore for quite an expensive bill. Making my way out of our room and walking downstairs, i am highly welcomed by my fiancee's dog Shadow which was an all black husky with grey paws and my cat Midnight that was an all black house cat that had grey-ish blue eyes. Softly petting the tops of their heads gently, i walk over to the coat hanger by the front door and hang out the tuxedo for a small while to go into the kitchen and grab something to eat.

    Arriving in the kitchen, i pull open the refrigerator door and do a run down of what is available for me to have in such short timing. Opting on a Protein shake and a can of Monster, i crack open the shake and gulp it down with no hesitation, feeling the liquid sync through my veins and giving my body the jump start it needed. I would usually open the Monster now, but since im in much of a time crunch i decide to take it on the road with me. Throwing the Protein supplement away i the recycling box and holding onto the Monster can, i walk over to the front door, kneel down to kiss our dog and cat, then grab the tuxedo hanger with my other hand, happy that it was wrapped in a plastic cover or else it would have gotten hairy from the dog and cat rubbing against it.

    Closing the front door behind me and locking it, i walk to my truck and place the key in the lock so i could get in and drive to St. Clair's church to get ready for the wedding in 2 hours. Hanging the hanger hook on the safety bar above the passenger side window, i step into the truck and close the drivers side door behind me, also putting my seat belt on in the process. Turning the truck on and hearing it roar to life, i adjust the rear-view mirror and shift the gear into reverse, pulling out of the driveway and onto the main road that way i could get to the church quicker to start things. Half an hour passed and the new time was 1:45 PM which only allowed me to get ready in a fast record of time and had to be ready for things as they came. Pulling into the church driveway and circling around until i found a spot, i pull into that very empty parking space and turn the truck off.

    Time check is now 2:00 PM exactly and now i need to get dressed as soon as possible so while i think about it, i put some action into it by unhooking the hanger from the Safety car and getting out of the truck, taking with me the tuxedo and the wedding ring that i had made sure was in my pocket along with the rolled up parchment with my vows written on it. Not forgetting about my car keys, i take them out of the ignition and throw them in my pocket as well after closing the truck door and locking it. Running towards the right side of the church where the guys are to be going to, my best man Robert yells to me from the door "Hey bro, let's get going man, people are already here and such. And now were waiting on you and your fiancee". Nodding in agreement to what he said, i quicken my step and once inside i run to one of the confessionals to get dressed, apologizing to Jesus Christ for stripping in front of his crucifix on the wall.

    Once changed into my tuxedo, i hang my other clothes up on the hanger and close the zipper to the plastic covering soon emerging from the confessional with the sounds of people chattering trailing behind me as i walk to the back of the church to hangup my things. Once i hung them up, i then return to the front of the church and take my place on the alter, looking at both my family and then my fiancee's but noticing something very uneven with the look i got from the second oldest sister in her family. My fiancee's mother was tearing up happily and gave me a quick wave, followed by the oldest sister and then there was the look i got from the second oldest. She didn't look at all thrilled, yet she didn't seem to hate this idea somewhat. But i could tell that she was putting on a fake smile which was cause for concern in my case since me and her second oldest sister were on very bad terms.

    She never looked at me, but once i saw her, and everyone else begin to look towards the back of the church following the famous church music, i also direct my attention that way, and see from under the rose-covered archway came my beautiful bride to be, linked arm-to-arm with her father as they slowly walked down the aisle. The time wasn't a figure of importance now to me since if the ceremony had begun, then it was obviously well past 2:40 PM and maybe even exactly 3:00 PM. My eyes were locked with hers as she continued to walk, holding the bouquet of flowers close to her chest and looking beautiful as ever in her white dress. I tried so hard to hold back my emotions as best as i could, but due to such an important moment in my life, i was rendered speechless and had sprouted only two full tears while she made it to the alter and took her place with her father, facing the Priest who stood at the top.

    Listening to he words exchanged from the Priest to her father as her father proved as evidence to allow her to be wed, i had smiled more and also noticed my mother and father were in the same mindset as me, except that my mom was tearing full fledged tears and my dad being the man that he is, only let two tears escape, but still had that proud look on his face. Her father soon left her side after a quick kiss to his daughters cheek and had soon returned to his seat next to his wife, putting his arm around her to comfort her in this great moment. When my fiancee turned towards me and held my hand, i smiled wider and looked into her eyes hidden behind her veil, getting lost and hearing the Priest begin his readings, and then pausing when it was time for the vows. Listening to her heartfelt vows, her words made my heart explode in happiness and my tears were now full fledged, trickling down my face in the most positive and happiest they could possibly be.

    When she had finished her vows the Priest had turned to me and i had reached into my left breast pocket to retrieve my rolled up paper, containing my list of vows neatly written on the paper in pen. With my mouth stammering a bit, but my body having to find a way to calm down and relax, i found the tranquility inside of myself and had said my vows proudly and without anymore hesitation;

    Many people spend their lives searching for their soulmate, their one true love. Some people are lucky to find the person they can truly call the better half of themselves, while others spend the rest of their lives searching and never finding. I am happy to count myself among the lucky ones, because I certainly found you.

    I love you baby. I know that you are the only one for me, my one true love. I am happy and I am grateful that you came into my life, that where others have spent their entire lives looking for the one, I have found you. And now that I have found you, I shall never let you go. I promise you, my love, that I shall hold you and cherish you and give you my heart, that I shall support you and care for you. Faithfully, I shall always stand steadfast at your side with your hand in mine, regardless of what life would bring to us. I take you now as my wife, and I shall remain so for the rest of my life.

    As soon as i was finished with my vows, my hand had slid up to my face, wiping away tears that had been there since before the last paragraph had been muttered and my other hand had took away the vows, folding them up and placing them in my pocket once more. In the distance however i had heard a small clicking noise that didn't resemble anything of normality at a wedding which also made my senses heightened to their highest ability possible. The priest had shared a few more words and as the rings were to be presented, the most unspeakable event had happened. I had reached inside my pocket to grab my ring to put on my fiancee's finger, but while this had happened the audible shriek of one of my fiancee's bridesmaids made me turn around only to stare into the barrel of a gun from a distance.

    The one person who had hated me ever since our first encounter had stood up from the pew that she was sitting at and had puled out a PP7 from her dress and had aimed the gun directly at my chest, only having few seconds to shoot before she would be restrained. Her father watching this happen had sprung up and grabbed his second oldest daughter by the arm but was too late as two bullets escaped the chamber and it felt like time had slowed down while i watched the bullets head towards me, afraid for my life, but not expecting my fiancee to do what she had done. My fiancee had pushed me aside and had taken the bullets whole-hearted, letting out a gasp as one bullet entered her chest, the other through her shoulder. People all throughout the Church had screamed in shock and other had already began to cry at what had just been witnessed, me standing there and looking down at my wife who was coughing terribly and trickling blood from her mouth.

    My immediate reaction was to fall to my knees but my mind told me to do a lot more then that, as i picked up my fallen angel and had held her in my arms, crying full tears and trembling in fear, barely able to see, barely able to breathe, and looking around as if i don't know where i am anymore. Holding her body close to me, i throw off my tuxedo coat and start to rip off pieces of my dress shirt, applying them to the bullet wounds trying to keep the blood from flowing but having no luck what so ever. I can hear her start to whisper something to me and at that moment she was my only priority so i held her close to my body, holding her dying body only to hear the words "Don't...be scared...I love...you.." before feeling her head fall imp to the side, evidence to everyone that she was dead in my arms.

    I couldn't reply back because my throat was blocked with air that was stammering to come in and out. I couldn't see because oncoming tears became a waterfall, soaking up the entire front half of my shirt and her dress. I held her closer and kissed her soft lips, breathing in trying to find a way to revive her somehow. I hesitated and performed CPR on her even though she was unresponsive, hoping, praying, pleading that she would come back to me and would be alive. I tried everything i could to get her to wake up, but nothing was working and everybody knew since the only ones that stayed behind in the church were her family and mine, and even they began to leave to go get an ambulance stat. The only person left there was my best man Robert who walked up behind me and kept reasoning with me to try and leave her side since there was nothing i could do.

    I continuously kept denying his requests, constantly trying to perform CPR before i started to become fatigued and too tired to continue on. My tears became dried and the only thing i had begun to do was a dry weep, kissing the lips of my fallen guardian angel and having no choice but to run my fingers softly over her eyes to close them. Carrying her in my arms, i finally gave in to my best man's request and had walked with him towards the door where i had seen the glimpse of her second oldest sister begin to be carried away by the police, handcuffed, and thrown in the back of a police car. In that moment, i didn't care about her sister, i only cared for my fallen fiancee who was dead in my arms and was bleeding all over my shirt which made my entire torso a deep crimson. I had seen the Ambulance come and i ignored it being that i was going to take the long mile walk to the hospital myself, carrying her in my arms and continuing to weep not caring who saw. Because today, i lost the one i loved and as of today, i will never be the same man ever again.
