• The Bat and the Enchanted Land
    The Bat’s Nightmare
    By: Kara Strickland

My dreams are stranger than usual. They are located in an enchanted land. In this place I am a small animal. My wing shines in the light of the moon. In these dreams I am a monster. I attack the unwilling. I hurt them for my own selfish reasons. I drink the forbidden liquid of humans and animal. Though I am a small animal myself, I can even kill even the largest of animals.
I am a hunter that is feared.
My dreams scare me, but are not nightmares. In the enchanted land I roam free I can control everyone. I am a dictator. Everyone prays for protection from this evil form of mine. My sleek wings and my pointed teeth prove that I am no myth. I watch people plea for mercy from me, but I can not give. That word is nonsense to this evil form of mine. I am no haunting ghost, no slimy monster, I am a killer. I am a bat that glides in the wind watching everyone and everything. At least I am only this beast in my dreams. These fake and disgusting dreams

When I wake I watch the news. The news is important. The news says thing about people being attacked. I continue watching in complete awe. It says that an animal is the one causing the trouble. It also says that the blood was drained. My mouth opens, shocked. I continued watching in dismay. Could I be changing in to my bat form at night, and attacking this poor people like in my dreams.
Impossible if I was this monster I would probably have killed my parents by now, wouldn’t I have. I looked around to see my parents as happy as normal or what was supposed to be normal. My dreams must be fake, and they have no relationship to the news what so ever.
The news was nonsense, it had nothing to do with my dreams, and it is about something else. I kept telling myself that there is another explanation. I laid down to sleep ignoring how my dreams related to the attacks. In my bed I forgot the news. I forgot about my dreams and went to sleep. That night I dreamed of nothing, I saw nothing. Everything was dark I no longer so the bat or the enchanted land. Every thing was back to normal.
